HAPPY VERDICTS
ROXIE HART
Roxie Hart was a defendant who had to go to trial, because she was charged for shooting the man she had an affair with. Scandalous! Now, after being found innocent, she is a star on the stage with fellow defendant, Velma Kelly!
VELMA KELLY
Velma Kelly found her husband and sister having an affair with each other, and was charged for double homicide. After an excruciating trial, she was initially found guilty. However, Mr. Flynn called for an appeal due to a low preponderance of evidence, Ms. Kelly is now free to live out her dream of being on the stage!
KITTY BAXTER
Kitty Baxter's case is much like Ms. Kelly's. She caught her husband having an affair with two other women. She was charged for double homicide. With a little help from our own Billy Flynn, she is able to walk away as a free woman!
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
We're sure all these fancy law terms may be confusing, so here are a few things that are important for you, the client, to understand.
- What is a pretrial conference?
A pretrial conference is a short hearing before court where the judge informs the parties of everything they need to know before the trial. - What is a mediation?
Mediation is when a third party helps the plaintiff and defendant reach an agreement. Mediation also ties into "arbitration". An arbitration is when a third party listens to the plaintiff and defendant, reviews that case and makes a final decision that is binding for both parties. We've never been in either situation. - What is a plaintiff?
A plaintiff is the person filing the lawsuit. - What is a pleading?
The pleading stage is when the plaintiff submits their complaint, and the defendant submits their defense.
