The Generals' Update
YOUR GUIDE TO DDE EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS: 6/4/2023
A PEEK INTO THE LIFE OF A GENERAL
Dress Code
As the weather grows warmer, sometimes our Generals begin to attend school in attire that is more appropriate for the beach than for school. We are asking for your support in reminding your General about the specific dress code expectations that are listed below:
1. Sleeveless shirts are permitted as long as they extend to the shoulder. Tank, tube and halter tops, including “spaghetti” straps, are not permitted. Undergarments and/or midriffs should not be visible.
2. Tasteful shorts are permitted during the school hours. Dresses, skirts and shorts shall be a length of at least mid-thigh.
If students are wearing clothing that does not meet the dress code, we will be calling home to ask you to provide alternative clothing. Thank you in advance for taking the time to review these expectations with your General and for your support as we ensure they meet the expectations!

8th GRADE HAPPENINGS
8th GRADE DANCE
The PTO-sponsored 8th Grade Dance will be held on Thursday, June 8th from 6:00-9:00pm at Bella Vista Country Club. Only 8th grade Eisenhower students may attend the dance. Students must attend school for at least 4 hours on the day of the dance. Therefore, if they arrive at school on time, they must remain at school until 11:25am.If you plan to sign your child out early on that day:
- 11:25 am is the earliest that a child may be released (provided he/she arrived on time).
- Please send in a note with your child indicating the time you will pick him/her up. You may write your own note indicating time of pick up, or you may use this EARLY PICK UP NOTE. You may start sending in notes to Mrs. DiStasi's attention in the main office TODAY!
- If your child will be going home with someone else, your note must indicate the name of the adult authorized to pick your child up. If your child is going home with another student, your note must also include the name of the student.
- If you will be picking your child up between 11:25am and 11:50am (during 8th grade lunch):
- Drive around the back of the building to Door 17, which is on the right (cafeteria) side of the building, and remain in your car.
- Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria.
- It would be most helpful to have a sign on your passenger side window indicating the name of the child(ren) you are picking up.
- We will not be dismissing 8th graders at the front door/main entrance between 11:25-11:50am. Staff will be concentrated in the cafeteria to assure a smooth and swift pick up.
- Pick up times after 11:50 will take place at the main entrance as usual.
This is just a reminder that attending the dance is a privilege, not a right. The privilege to attend the dance may be revoked if students do not adhere to school behavioral expectations. Additionally, school behavioral expectations extend to the dance, particularly those in terms of appropriate physical contact and banning of illegal substances.
This is an 8th grade dance, not a prom. Formal attire is not advocated. Appropriate dress may suggest the following: a jacket, dress pants, a collared shirt, and a tie or an age-appropriate dress.
Parents must pick students up promptly at 9:00pm. Students may only leave the dance prior to the end time if an adult arrives to picks them up. There should be no limousines to or from the dance.
GRADUATION TICKETS
Graduation tickets and diplomas will be distributed Tuesday, June 13th when students return from the class trip. Before the student receives graduation tickets and diploma:
- All fines must be paid
- Assigned student Chromebooks and chargers must be received
- Any items borrowed from a classroom teacher must be returned.
- All unexcused absences must be followed up with a parent note.
- For your convenience, if your child has any unexcused absences, you can find a pre-filled attendance note to excuse them in the parent portal under the "letters" tab.
