Salmon's Week 11 Update
November 9th-13th
Overview
Reading: We have worked comparing and contrasting and nonfiction text feature. We also touched on what good expository text looks like using facts.
Writing: We have started with great anticipation our expository reports on the National Parks. We have 6 parks we are researching and you will receive more information at Parent Teacher Conferences to help your child at home. One student was quoted saying, "I didn't know this would be so much fun!". Wow that says a lot about how fun it is to learn on iPads.
Science: The scientific method is our focus for the next few weeks. The kids are working hard on understanding the 5 steps to the process:

Reading - Cause Effect is the reading skill and we will be working on common and proper nouns
Science - Gummy Bear Lab!!! We will be practicing our scientific method with this lab.
Social Studies - We will be continuing our unit on the Southeast. Did you know that 80% of Christmas Trees sold east of the Mississippi come from the good ole state of North Carolina?
Reminders and Upcoming Dates
Please please please label all clothing! We have an abundance of single mittens and hats in the classroom. Also please make sure students dress appropriately for recess outdoors.
