Positive Reinforcers
At the beginning of the year we discussed the benefits of positive reinforcers in ANY classroom.
As I walked the halls yesterday, I saw Mrs. Steward using a chapstick smelly system with her first graders. They were so excited to smell the top of their hand and work for the swipe!
I heard Mrs. Bullock acknowledged how nicely her class was walking in the hall and said "we get a fuzzy" when we get to our classroom.
Mrs. Prado and Mrs. White have a money system. Their students earn "bucks" and yesterday was a shopping day for the students.
How are you encouraging and motivating your students? How are you building your classroom community? It is worth doing this, especially as the holidays are approaching.
Extended PLC Time
As you make time to talk about students, remember to talk about the learner and the work. You should be bringing writing samples, math problems that show their thinking to discuss and make new groups.
