TE PĀNUI O TE KURA O PUKETAPU
Week 4, Term 1 - Friday 25 February 2022
Empower All People to be Healthy, Lifelong Learners
Welcome to our Kura
"The new sign is the first thing some people will see when they come to our school. It is nice and natural and represents our school well" - Harmony Lambert, Kowhai 3
pb4l
Over time, our kura will continue to unpack this value and deepen our understanding.
Well done Totara 2 - You have some great ideas here
KA ORA KA AKO - LUNCHES IN SCHOOL

Tuesday 1 March: Vegetarian Pasta Salad
Wednesday 2 March: Croissants
Thursday 3 March: Mac 'n' Cheese
Friday 4 March: Burger Day!
Keep an eye out on Hero for the full menu which will be out soon.
Fridays are Burger Day!
Last week it was chicken burgers - Osborne Grace looks pretty happy with his!
Time for some Feedback
Finding things that are healthy, suitable and liked by almost 400 children is a big challenge but our team is trying hard to find that balance.
Some lunches have been real favourites, some not so much. (We are learning and tweaking things as we go.)
After four weeks of lunches from our Kitchen Team, we would love to get your feedback.
- What do you think of the lunches?
- What do your children tell you about the lunches?
- Are there any things that your kids have really loved?
- Or anything that they have really not been impressed by?
- If we could provide anything, what would be your child's one big wish for lunch?
If you have any comments you would like to make, please let us know at office@puketapu.school.nz
COVID update
We continue to take inspiration from our resilient tamariki and kaiako who turn up to school smiling and ready to take on the new challenges that COVID 19 brings.
We have taken the key points out of the MoE information.
Please see below for the latest information on the shift to Phase 3:
Key Information:
The biggest change is that close contacts of a positive case at school may still attend school (the only time students need to isolate now is if they have Covid themselves, or a family member in their household)
The only students who need to remain home are those who are isolating because they or other family members are Covid positive, or if your child is unwell.
Please also read the updated guide to self-isolation and the flowchart below.
Thanks again for your ongoing support and patience as we work through this challenge.
T-shirt & Hoodie Order
Please visit this website to place your order and make payment - https://www.gamechanger.org.nz/puketapuschool
They even have Afterpay & Laybuy available.
Get your orders in before Sunday 13 March
You can even get your name or nickname printed on the back!
School Photos are Coming!
Start practising those smiles!
Ordering will be done online. After Photo Day, you will receive a personalised code to view and order your child's individual and class photo.
This year things will be a little different, but the good news is that we can all get photos, without a mask in sight!
The down side is that this year we are not going to be doing sibling photos.
There is nothing to pay before Photo Day. Order forms with your child's personalised Key Code will come home after photo day. As soon as you receive this, you can go online to view your child's photographs and choose what you would like to order. Orders placed before the Free Delivery date will be delivered to school at no additional cost.
Kowhai hangi update
Pick up for Hangi orders is Friday 4 March between 4-5pm in the Tech Block at the front of our School.

NETBALL YR 7/8
On Thursday 10th March at 3.15pm Kelston who is a Netball Development Officer at Netball Taranaki will be coming to work with our year 7 and 8 netball players and coaches.
Netball Taranaki's vision for the school programs is to encourage, develop and educate players and coaches with fundamental skills and improve physical literacy through the NetballSmart program.
NetballSmart is the official injury prevention program of Netball New Zealand and is backed by ACC. It covers many aspects of our sport, including, preparation, warm up, nutrition, training and wellness. It is designed to be delivered quickly and is adjustable for children of different ages and skill levels.
If your child is considering playing netball please send them along. If you are considering coaching then this session will be very valuable to you as well.
TOUCH
Our Touch teams had their first game of the year on Wednesday night. Thanks to all our amazing Coaches for making it happen. There are a few extra restrictions but the kids are happy they still get to play.
Thanks Kim Sowman for the action shots on Wednesday!
thank you
We were delighted to welcome former student Lennon Turner, who is now the Manager of Play2win Arcade in the Top-town Complex in New Plymouth for a short (and socially distanced) visit this week.
Play2win love giving back to the community and have given us a very generous Donation of $4012.00 raised through their card top-up scheme.
Lennon says, 'As an ex-pupil I am honoured to have attended this amazing school and feel very fortunate to be able to help give something back.'
We feel very fortunate to have been given this donation and will be putting this towards some great new things in the future.
