Letter from the Principal
Dear Tualatin Black Bear Families,
I hope you all have had some time to get outside and enjoy some of this beautiful Oregon Spring weather between the rainy days. The school garden has been alive with many springtime flowers, along with everything else that is growing this time of year. Please feel free to enjoy the garden outside of school hours.
With warm weather comes more outside time and activities. Please remember to send students to school in appropriate shoes with laces or Velcro each day to avoid injuries during PE, recess play, and in the classroom. Shoes that completely cover the toes at school are best for active times. We ask that students do not wear open-toe shoes, sandals or flip-flops. This will help reduce injuries and allow students to enjoy the outdoor fun. Please help keep your student hydrated by sending a water bottle to school each day.
Our Kindergarten kick off is next week on Tuesday, May 17. This is a time for incoming Kindergarteners and their parents to come to school for an in-person look at a Kindergarten classroom, complete a fun activity, take a ride on a school bus, meet some of our Black Bear staff and enjoy some social time with other students and parents who will be part of our Kindergarten class this coming Fall. There will also be time to register for Kindergarten if you have not done so. Please come enjoy the fun. We look forward to seeing our incoming Kindergarten families next week. Kindergarten Kick Off 2022
We have fun and informative events as we move towards the end of the school year. Keep reading the Black Bear Bits for information as it gets closer.
With Gratitude,
Mr. Kingery
Principal

City of Tualatin Upcoming Events
After a two-year hiatus, Tualatin's annual Memorial Day Commemoration is back on Monday, May 30th. This national holiday provides us an opportunity to honor and respect deceased military members, especially family and friends. Join us at Winona Cemetery at 10:45am for the Commemoration, followed by a free barbecue picnic in Tualatin Community park hosted by Tualatin VFW 3452 Auxiliary.
PAINT WITH US!
In March of 2021, over 90 community members worked with artist Redstone Rodolfo Serna to create a beautiful mural on three sides of the picnic shelter in Tualatin Community Park. We loved that process (and the result!) so much, we're doing it again! The fourth wall of the picnic shelter will be getting a brand-new mural, and we'd love to have you join us in the painting process! Sign up for a painting opportunity on May 28 or 29th!
BLENDER DASH
Don't miss out on Tualatin's craziest fun run for kids ages 5-15! Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Tualatin Community Park from 9am - 1pm. The Blender Dash will include a mix up of everyone's favorite themed runs, including color, foam, mud, obstacles, and zombies! Every participant will receive a race number, sunglasses plus a Blender Dash bandana. Make sure to wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty as no one will come out of this clean! Hang out after the race and visit the Fun Zone!
Free Dental Screening and Sealants
Dental3 will be providing free dental screening and sealants the week of May 23 at Tualatin Elementary. Healthy teeth are important to your child’s overall health. A dental screening is a quick look inside your child’s mouth to check the overall health of their teeth. Dental sealants are protective coatings put on the back teeth and are a quick and easy way to prevent cavities. Click this link to sign the permission form for your child online: (Please copy and paste the link to sign the permission form for your child online) https://hipaa.jotform.com/Dental3/free-school-sealant-program-english
