Principal's Corner
Volume II - October 15, 2017
CONFERENCE CHAMPS!!! Congratulations to RHS Cheer on earning the first ever Coastal 8 conference championship!
Notes from the RHS Administrative Team
What an awesome week we had!
- Our student athletes were amazing, earning wins, conference championships, and regional bids! The performing arts programs continue to be superior….with great performances by the RHS choirs and marching band!
- As I’ve walked the building, I am continually impressed at the engaging and rigorous lessons happening in every classroom. You are truly an awesome staff, and I’m proud to be among you.
- And…..one more piece of good news. This six weeks, we had 121 classed failed. For the same period last year, there were 164 failures. This shows us that our students are seeing more success in the classroom…due to YOUR efforts as teachers!!
Please keep working to individualize learning in your classrooms, and let me know what I can do to support your efforts.
Some notes:
- Now that we are really in the “swing” of things, the parent and student newsletter will be starting back up. Please send news items for parents and students to Mr. Custy.
- Seniors will be placing graduation materials on Monday. If it's not convenient for them to leave your class at this time, they can go during PowerHour. This should only take 10-15 minutes
- Our school website is being transitioned to a new system. Please consider what is currently on your page, and if you want that information to transition to the new page. If you do, you don't have to do anything. If you don't, we should clean the page before migration.
- State Health Plan - Open Enrollment https://shp-login.hrintouch.com/ Closes Oct. 31.
- Based on your feedback, we have been experimenting with protecting instructional time by limiting announcements over the intercom. We have tried eliminating them altogether, only doing a few between classes, and just doing a few in the morning. Which do yo you like best? Please provide feedback below.
SHOUT OUTS!!!
- Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the concert Thursday night! Simply beautiful! Well done!! (From Mrs. Kennedy to the RHS Choirs)
Jeep Giveaway - OCS District Fundraiser
- National Dodge has donated a jeep to OCS!
- Please see the flyer for details.
- All schools have been issued tickets to sell.
- Tickets are $20.00, and the school keeps ALL funds from ticket sales.
- We will sell tickets at EVERY school event, sporting events, etc.
- I will meet with staff members that host events to work out the plan.
- Our goal is to sell 1200 tickets.
