STATE TESTING

Dear Parents & Guardians,

The South Carolina College-and Career Ready Assessments (SCREADY) program is a statewide assessment in English Language Arts and Mathematics administered to students in grades 3-8 over a three day period. The South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (SCPASS) is a statewide assessment in Science administered to students in grades 4 and 6 in a single day.

This year all students in grades 3-8 will participate in SCREADY and SCPASS. The assessments will be administered on the following dates at Hopkins Elementary School:

  • Tuesday, May 18, 2021- SCREADY (Writing)
  • Wednesday, May 19, 2021- SCREADY (Reading)
  • Tuesday, May 25, 2021- SCREADY (Mathematics)
  • Thursday, May 27, 2021- SCPASS (Science- Grade 4 only)

All testing will be conducted in-person, at school. There is no option to take these tests from home because they were not designed to be administered in that manner. We anticipate that testing will last until 12pm each day. Once testing has concluded for your child, you can come and pick him/her up or allow them to stay at school for the remainder of the day. Students will be required to follow all established safety measures and should bring the following items to school each testing day:

  • School issued laptop (fully charged)
  • Laptop charger
  • Headphones (cannot be Bluetooth)
  • Mask- students must wear masks at all times while in the building
  • Students cannot have phones or smart watches

While we strongly recommend driving your student to and from school each day, the bus is an option. Car riders will be dropped off at 7:15am and picked up once testing has concluded or at the end of the day, 2:30pm. Once students arrive they will be split into smaller groups for testing so that they can be socially distanced.

Using the link below please provide logistical information that will assist us in planning for a successful testing experience.

As always if you have any questions, comments or concerns please let your child’s teacher or I know.

Sincerely,

Audrey White-Garner, M Ed.

Principal
