Three LBMS Students win Playwriting Contest

Three LBMS Theatre students won the Tumbleweed Ten Minute Play Festival contest sponsored by Lubbock Community Theatre! The contest required playwrights of elementary, middle school, high school, adult, and senior ages to submit short plays which were then narrowed down. While just one play was intended to be chosen from each category, the middle school category was packed with such impressive competition that judges decided to select two winners! The six plays, including the two winning middle school plays by our three talented Pirates, are to be produced and presented by the Lubbock Community Theatre beginning at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, January 24 and again at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25! The presentation will include "The Tale of King Otter" by LBMS student Eli Land (directed by LBMS Theatre teacher Josh Aguirre) and "A Way to Break Up" by LBMS students Kaitlyn Beatley and Eve Helak! Admission is $5.00 with open seating. Congratulations to these talented young students and their teacher, Mr. Aguirre, and to all 47 LBMS students who submitted their scripts! Way to go, Pirates!
