1. STUDENT SAFETY A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the classroom response to an incident at school. Weather events, fire, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by students, teachers, staff and administration. Our school and GCCSC is expanding the safety program to include the Standard Response Protocol - Extended (SRPx). Over this next month our staff and students will ALL be trained to follow the SRP. 2. Yearbooks are on sale through February 15th. Parents may order with the form (copy found below) or by going online to and using ID code 1768519.

3. It's not too late to purchase iPad Insurance for $35. You can pay with a check or online through your child's EZ-Pay account (also used for lunch accounts and textbook rentals) or complete and return the attached form.

4. Camp Invention is Back! Camp Invention will be returning to JB Stephens Elementary July 15-19 for students entering K - 6th grade for the 2019-20 school year, flyers went home before winter break! This years program is going to be our best year yet, check it out at We are in need of some parent help and it comes along with the benefit of registration discounts! 5. The character trait we will be focusing on during February is Obedience. Obedience means Cheerfully doing what I am told by those who are responsible for me. Up to 4 students per classroom will be recognized at the end of the month for consistently demonstrating this trait.

6. Do your kids have ‘Cabin Fever’? Make plans to attend Home Depot Kids Workshop on Saturday, February 2nd from 9:00 a.m. - Noon. Heart Candy Boxes are this month’s craft. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Learn more and register at

10. The Second Step social emotional lessons continue to be taught in all 16 classrooms at Weston. This quarter’s topic is recognizing and managing one’s own emotions. The skills of taking deep breaths, using positive self-talk, and counting will be taught. Watch for the home links to come home so that you and your child may practice these skills together.

If you do not have wifi and need a place for your child to complete their January 30th or 31st eLearning Day work we will have Lab Hours available next week. You can bring your students to school during these evening times to finish any of their eLearning lessons they need to complete. Students can also bring their iPads home to complete the missed work. Students have 1 week to complete the work or they will be counted absent for that day. Please complete the form below if you will be taking advantage of the Lab Hours.
