The Early Years
Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Florence, Italy. His fathers name was Ser Piero, and his mothers name was Catherina. Even though Leonardo's father loved Catherina he did not marry her, because he wanted to marry someone with money who came from a good family just like him and his grand parents and his parents before him. A few months later he found just that someone her name was Albiera Di Giovanna Amadori.
An Artist In The Making
When Leonardo was at the age of four or five he started to show a talent in art. He went to art school where he learned how to paint and mix colors. One day his instructor asked him to paint an angel in the corner of one of his paintings. When his instructor saw Leonardo's angel he realized what a talented student he had and promised never to touch a brush again
The Aritsts Guild
After Leonardo's instructor made his promise, Leonardo was accepted into the artists guild when he was about twenty. Yet his career got off to a very slow start. All his life he just started projects and then abandon them. No one knows why, but some people think it may be that his thoughts lied somewhere else and that painting bored him.
Life in Milan
When Leonardo moved to Milan it was ruled by Duke Ludovico Sforza. The Duke liked Leonardo because of his many talents such as his painting, his beautiful singing vioce, and his great skill at playing the liar da braccio an early instrument that looks a lot like a violin.
His Last Years
Leonardo Da Vinci died on May 2, 1519, in the hands of the King of France. That day reminded all of us what a gift we got, the gift of Leonardo Da Vinci. For if we was never born we would not have the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and The Battle of Anghiari.
