Students who become a close contact due to a positive at school can follow these quarantine guidelines.
1. Fully vaccinated – Fully vaccinated student who is symptom free does not need to quarantine
2. Unvaccinated – Symptom free – Recommend wearing a mask and is tested for five (5) days. Student stays in school and participates in activities with a negative result. Positive test result student is sent home to quarantine.
Students who refuse to test for all five (5) days will need to quarantine at home for five (5) days with the option to test on day five (5) to return on day six (6). If student refuses to test on day five (5) or six (6) student needs to quarantine for ten (10) days.
TESTING:
Parents will need to let the school know of this option and there will be paperwork that will need to be filled out. Tahquamenon Area Schools will offer testing each day starting at 7:30 a.m. in the Central Office. Location will change if numbers are too high for space. Students will need to test negative to stay in school. Bus students will need to report to the high school gym immediately upon getting to school for testing on test days. (District is looking into home tests for these students so they can do the test prior to getting on the bus in the morning.)
TAS will continue with COVID safety precautions and encourage parents, students and staff to stay home when they don't feel good or show symptoms. Together we can help everyone stay healthy.
