Exciting updates on life at BHS!
PRIDE and Academic Innovations
BHS is excited to adopt our new motto P.R.I.D.E. Personal Responsibility in Delivering Excellence. This week, we saw some incredible victories in the classroom and on the football field.
SSR - Silent Sustained Reading. SSR is designed to take the "chore" out of reading for BHS students. For 15 minutes at the end of 1st Period, students read material of their choice with no pressure or test component. This helps students develop a love of literacy and discover themselves as growing readers.
PRIDE Period - Pride Period is thirty minutes in the school day devoted to Reading Intervention. Reading Specialist Amy Penny has pioneered this new initiative so that every BHS student will gain additional literacy training. Making BHS students better readers is a #1 priority of BHS teachers and adminstrators.
