SAFE ROUTES APS
A Call to Action!
Join us as we continue our journey to end racism and all forms of bullying on November 14, 2022. Six year old Ruby Bridges stepped into the history books on this day in1960 when she integrated William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans becoming a national icon for the civil rights movement. Today her story continues to inspire the next generation of leaders to end racism together one step at a time.
We are very excited to celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day (RBWTSD) for the third year, on Monday, Nov. 14th. RBWTSD gives children the opportunity to celebrate Ruby's courage by walking to school and having discussions about Ruby. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to walk in celebration of Ruby's bravery and courage. We will join students across the country who are continuing the movement to end racism and unify our communities.
We are encouraging students to make a sign with a positive message, a word, or drawing to carry that morning and also wear purple.
On Monday, Nov. 14th, please join us on the track to celebrate brave Ruby Bridges. The track will open at 8am for walking only (no bikes/scooters this time). We will take a group photo for the yearbook.
Show up and support!
The walk for justice continues!

"Don't follow the path. Go where there is no path and begin the trail. When you start a new trail equipped with courage, strength and conviction, the only thing that can stop you is you!"

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
