In Case You Missed It:
We are so fortunate to have a PTSO that works hard to support our school. The potato bar was a wonderful example of how they go above and beyond to show their appreciation for our staff. It was also a wonderful way for staff to be able to fellowship. Please make sure to voice your appreciation to board members when you see them.
The PTSO purchased 10 Chromebooks which were delivered, inventoried, and etched for our school. After looking at numbers of devices allocated to classrooms, these were divided between the health rooms. They had a much smaller ratio of devices to students than other classrooms that utilize the technology daily. I am not aware of any additional devices being purchased this school year. It is imperative we diligently work to take care of what we have have. Make sure you have numbered devices and established a system in your room to check out and in the same device to students each time. It is also important to check units routinely for cracks, breaks, missing keys, and issues and report promptly through the Tech Tracker. This could be a job for someone in each core. It is also important to teach and practice having students log out of devices each use. When you have these systems in place, it is much easier to figure out who damaged a device and keeps students from doing things online in someone else's name.
Suzanne Rurkowski will be leaving SanLee around the end of the semester to teach in a school very close to her home in Durham. Suzanne travels over two hours daily to teach at SanLee. We are fortunate to have had her part of the team, even if it was just for a short time.
I'm excited to announce that Simone Ross will be joining SanLee in January as a Child Nutrition Assistant/bus driver.
