Stride Serves: National Day of Service

September 11 is designated by Congress as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. This day provides a great opportunity for us to recognize and thank veterans, active duty service men and women, and first responders in our communities.

How You Can Get Involved:

  • Write and send a letter to a first responder, veteran, deployed troop, or new recruit to express your thanks for their service.
  • Letters can be sent to the following organizations (or to someone you know!):
  • Place a small flag in your yard in remembrance of 9/11.
  • What other ideas can you think of to honor the Day of Service?

Be sure to share photos of your activities on your school's Facebook page with the hashtag #StrideServes!

What are the 7 Mindsets?

The 7 Mindsets are based on a three year research effort that began with the simple question: What do the world’s happiest and most successful people have in common? It turns out that the game-changing commonalities of happiness and success are based on how people think. What emerged from the research was a set of seven mental habits foundational to an enriched life. The 7 Mindsets are a comprehensive blueprint for Social Emotional Learning, written in simple, powerful language to teach and activate success strategies for people to live the lives of their dreams.

We'll learn about each of the 7 Mindsets this year and how to apply them to your life. As a starting point, reach each of the 7 Mindsets in the image - which one jumps off the page for you?
