2018-2019 Class Assignment Procedures: This is the time of year that staff and parents are starting to think about the 2018-2019 school year and the class assignment procedures. In May, the process will begin to place students for the 2018-2019 school year. The student placement process is a team effort done with great care. Placement decisions are based upon the consideration of all educational factors with academic and social being the primary determinant. Factors used in developing each diverse classroom includes a balance in several areas: racial/ethnic, gender, academic achievement levels, learning styles, instructional levels, discipline issues, separation of students who interfere with each other’s progress, and special education certification. The best interest of every student is always kept in mind as we work for appropriate placements. We welcome any information about your child that you, as parents, may wish to share that will help us in this placement process. If you would like to share something with us about your child, you may. Please do not request an individual teacher or use teachers’ names, but rather give us additional information that will help us in selecting the right classroom for your child. Please be assured that with or without information from parents, we will review each student’s needs individually and select the classroom in which we believe he/she will learn best. Parents will be notified of student class assignments in late August. There will be grade level supply lists posted on Chapman’s website before the end of the school year and sent home with the final report card this year so families can have access to them throughout the summer. Any specific supplies needed for a particular classroom will be sent home with the classroom assignment in August. Please have all forms turned into the office or your current classroom teacher by May 4, 2018. Below is the link to the Chapman Class Placement Form.

Parking Lot- Please make sure that you are adhering to all the parking lot safety rules. In the morning, please pull up to the second cone in the drop off area. Patience is the key to ensure the safety of our students. Chapman staff and safeties are there to help starting at 8:33 AM. In the afternoon, I know that it is difficult to find parking, but PLEASE do not create your own parking spots, do not park in the loop in front of the school and do not park in the bus loop. We are having continuous conversations about how to make the situation better... we are still looking for solutions. Please remember to be kind to and patient with staff and other parents. We are all in this together.
Chapman is in need of lunch monitors! If you are interested in being a monitor for a few hours of the day, please contact Maria D'Alfonso or Brian Bahr in food service. The number is 734-379-7620. You can also contact me at 734-379-6380 and I can help with this process.
