Title IV, Part A School Safety News
Kicking off into the Unknown this year
As the 2020-2021 school year kicks off, it promises to be one of uncertainty and ongoing changes. If there is anything that administrators and educators have learned though, it is to expect the unexpected, adjust the playbook as needed and continue to push through the challenges ahead. Region 9 staff is ready to support you in every way we can, so please don't hesitate to reach out as needed!
Texas School Safety Center DAR tool
You may be getting reminder letters from the TxSSC about your DAR submission. I will be submitting for your district, but I need your help to fill out the questions in the attachment below. Several of the new questions in this reporting cycle are related to district and campus procedures that only you and your administrators will be able to answer. Please fill out the form to the best of your knowledge, scan it and return it to me at your earliest convenience. Thank you for those of you that have already sent me your information.
School Threat Assessment Training
The Texas School Safety Center will be opening additional virtual training sessions very soon. These sessions will be offered every Tuesday and Thursday in this format through at least December. Each ESC in Texas is also in the process of training 2 staff members for face to face sessions after COVID restrictions have been lifted. Check the site for training dates which will be posted soon. Remember that EVERY team member must receive the entire training. https://txssc.txstate.edu/events/sbta-trainings/
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
