Coach's Update from Mrs. Horsford
Hope everyone is well and staying safe! Hope you have found the curriculum resources that I have been sharing in our newsletters helpful. Just wanted to take some time to give you a little information about myself and my role as an instructional coach. In 1992, I began my teaching career after graduating from Nicholls State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Since then, I have taught in 4 states. The grades include kindergarten through sixth grade. In 2001, I obtained my master's degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University while living in Florida.
As an instructional coach, a few of my responsibilities include the following:
- Supporting teachers as they implement our district's curriculum frameworks
- Providing professional development
- Co-teaching or modeling lessons in classrooms
- Analyzing student assessment data during our teacher based team meetings
- Working collaboratively with other instructional coaches and our Teaching and Learning department
- Supporting students as they progress throughout the year
I will continue to share current and relevant curriculum updates through our school newsletter.
All the best,
Pickerington Local School District has changed the policy on when students can return after illness. Students must be fever and symptom free for 72 hours without the use of medication to return to school. This is a change from 24 hours.

Temperature 100.0 degrees or higher
New or worsened cough
Loss of taste or smell
New or worsened nasal congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Do not send students to school is they have 2 or more of the following:
New or worsened fatigue
Thank you for helping keep our students and staff safe during these challenging times. Please feel free to call or email if you have any questions.

H.O.P.E Food Bags
Violet Baptist Church offers a Weekend Food Program. This program was created to help those families in need of meals for their children over the weekend. This is offered to our students for FREE. Each student in the house is eligible. Students will take their bags home on either Monday or Thursday, depending on which hybrid day they are here. If your student is VLA and would like to participate, you will pick up the bag(s) from the school on Thursday or Friday. Please reach out to Kendra Stewart, School Counselor by phone at 614-548-1431 or email at email@example.com in order to sign up.
