November 16th: Virtual Book Fair Begins!

November 25-27: Thanksgiving break (NO School)

Good Luck Pickerington Central Tigers Football Team!!!

Note from Mr. Z

I just cannot say enough about your students! I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of the young scholars here at Pickerington Elementary. Their personalities shine through their masks and their eyes give away the dedication to their learning, feelings, and of course their smiles. We all know this year has not been ideal and have differing thoughts/opinions on this school year. No matter which way you lean, the main goal remains the same....the student's emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Our teachers and staff have done an amazing job working with the guidelines to ensure a positive learning environment. Thank you families for your continued support in making sure your child is logging on and marked "present", attempting Seesaw activities, and coming prepared to learn on the days they are in the building. Every one of us has a part in shaping our youth and I couldn't more PROUD of how we ALL are coming together to make this year a success. Take care and be safe!

Coach's Update from Mrs. Horsford

Greetings Families!

Hope everyone is well and staying safe! Hope you have found the curriculum resources that I have been sharing in our newsletters helpful. Just wanted to take some time to give you a little information about myself and my role as an instructional coach. In 1992, I began my teaching career after graduating from Nicholls State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Since then, I have taught in 4 states. The grades include kindergarten through sixth grade. In 2001, I obtained my master's degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University while living in Florida.

As an instructional coach, a few of my responsibilities include the following:

  • Supporting teachers as they implement our district's curriculum frameworks
  • Providing professional development
  • Co-teaching or modeling lessons in classrooms
  • Analyzing student assessment data during our teacher based team meetings
  • Working collaboratively with other instructional coaches and our Teaching and Learning department
  • Supporting students as they progress throughout the year

I will continue to share current and relevant curriculum updates through our school newsletter.

All the best,

Mrs. Horsford

A few simple practices that can help families keep media and tech use in check.

H.O.P.E Food Bags

Violet Baptist Church offers a Weekend Food Program. This program was created to help those families in need of meals for their children over the weekend. This is offered to our students for FREE. Each student in the house is eligible. Students will take their bags home on either Monday or Thursday, depending on which hybrid day they are here. If your student is VLA and would like to participate, you will pick up the bag(s) from the school on Thursday or Friday. Please reach out to Kendra Stewart, School Counselor by phone at 614-548-1431 or email at kendra_stewart@plsd.us in order to sign up.

Free meals at school!

We just got word from the ODE Child Nutrition Department that all meals are free through June 2021. No paperwork needs to be completed. Your student simply needs to go through the line. Please take advantage of this amazing program!
