Sunnyside School
April 2021
Message from the Principal...
Hello Sunnyside Families,
Spring is a symbol of renewal and hope. As we enter the last streak of this school year, please keep in mind that we are not in the clear yet and need to be vigilant with our mitigating strategies - mask wearing, physical distancing and hand washing. The “Finish Strong” guidance affirms the importance of the mitigation strategies that we have focused on this year. As a reminder, we ask that you report any positive COVID-19 cases to our COVID-19 liaison, Adrianna Collins at COVID19@sheltonpublicschools.org, so that we can continue to properly contact trace in a timely manner to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.
As shared in previous newsletters, If ANY member of your household is awaiting a covid test, has been exposed to a positive person or symptomatic should NOT be going to work or school until test results are verified. Although it may not be convenient for you, this is for the safety and well-being of your family and community.
- Beginning on Wednesday, April 7 - all Wednesdays will be IN-PERSON LEARNING DAYS with a 1:50pm dismissal.
- Wednesdays will remain early dismissal days (1:50pm) for the remainder of the school year for staff to accommodate remote learning.
- Please remember, we will not switch students to distance learning for a day. In-person students must attend school all 5 days beginning the week of April 5th.
- As shared at March's BOE Meeting, May 1st is the cut-off of switching between DL to in-person. This means, if you have not switched to in-person learning before May 1st, your child would remain in Full Distance Learning for the remainder of this school year.
- Kindergarten Registration is open. Call the main office @ 203.922.3021 to set up an appointment. Registration is ongoing, please share with neighbors and family members.
To report a positive Covid19 case, please contact the school nurse directly: Stephanie Elliott...203-922-3021 or email at selliott@sheltonpublicschools.org. You may also contact Adrianna Collins, as mentioned above.
Be like Pete the Tiger, wear your mask!
Happy Spring!

School Reward Programs
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Box Tops for Education can be sent in to your classroom teachers anytime throughout the school year. Please submit them in an envelope whenever possible with your child’s name, teacher’s name and number of Box Tops written on the outside. The money we receive through this program will be used to purchase supplies for Sunnyside School. The more Box Tops we collect, the more educational supplies we can buy. The class that collects the most will earn extra recess time! Happy collecting!
