Eagle Academy Weekly Update
Week of February 6, 2022
Principal's Message
Hands-On School
My grandmother was fond of saying that, “Idle hands are the Devil’s workshop.” This was usually just before she handed me a broom or a shovel. There is truth in that old saying. When we are busy fixing, creating, building, planting, dribbling, painting, etc. we are being productive and usually feeling good about ourselves. Eagle Academy has always strived to be a place of hands-on and project based learning.
This past week
· Students in Culinary Class were busy making chocolates and cookies
· Staff & students were out at the Community Center for Friday Basketball
· Projects in Spanish & Science kept minds & hands busy
· 4 students in our job training program were helping out in some of the other school cafeterias
· The weightlifters, both guys & girls, kept their grip on ever increasing personal bests
We look forward to the warmer weather when we can be outside for gym class, start up our weekly barbecues, get involved in Community Service projects. And speaking of busy hands, our annual ping-pong tournament is scheduled for next week. Stay tuned…

Stay Healthy,

Weightlifting Seminar
Dr. Don spoke with some of our students who have acquired a newfound passion for weightlifting. He spoke about the nutritional and lifestyle benefits of the sport, how the passion of the sport can transition into a career, and gave some insight into technique.
Mr. Collesano and the students in attendance shared their daily regimen and goals, as Dr. Don gave some Cross-Fit (circuit-training) coaching suggestions. Students left the presentation with a much better understanding of the sport of weightlifting and how it can provide unlimited positive impacts on their lives.
