Six Flags Reading Incentive
2018-2019 Reading Incentive Program
Frequently Asked Questions
The Six Flags Read to Succeed program encourages students to read for pleasure. Students are required to participate in recreational reading - newspapers, comic books, novels, e-books, fiction and nonfiction. Students can read independently, or parents can read to students. To receive a ticket to Six Flags, students must complete the reading log and 6 hour reading requirement.
Can I assign students to read for class and use that as a reading requirement?
No. Homework assignments, schoolwork and homework does not count towards a students 6 hour reading requirement.
Can I assign class novels to count towards the reading goal?
No. If the entire class is reading an assigned novel and that novel is recorded on the reading log, this is considered cheating and will result in an investigation.
How do I get started?
Getting started is easy. Go to the website - sixflags.com/read and set up your account.
Set up your class roster and print your parent letters and reading logs.
Please print the deadline to turn in reading logs on the reading log that you send home to parents.
How do we get our Six Flags tickets?
After your students complete the 6 hour reading requirement, log in to your account, enter student(s) information. Students will only earn a ticket if they are entered into the online account by the homeroom teacher.
Do all homeroom teachers get Six Flags tickets?
Teachers will only earn a ticket if at least 8 students met the 6 hour reading requirement.
When is the deadline? The deadline for entering all student information and student reading logs is March 1, 2019. Do not wait until March 1, 2019 to enter your students names into the Read to Succeed database. Can I use a different reading log? I prefer my own reading logs instead of the Six Flags' reading log. No. Please use the Six Flags Reading Logs, other logs will not be accepted. Since the program is online, what do I do with the paper Reading Logs? Keep your logs in a safe place in case of an audit of our files. When will we get the Six Flags tickets? Tickets will be delivered in early May and will be emailed directly to teachers. Can we use these tickets for Fright Night? Tickets are only valid on select dates. Those dates will be printed on the tickets. Tickets can only be used during the 2019 season. Can I add students to my roster who do not attend Dresden or students who are not in my homeroom. No. You cannot add children who do not attend Dresden to your class roster. Are lost tickets replaced? No. Tickets cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.
