What's New in Room 182

Mrs. Peters' 3rd Grade * April 29, 2016

Learning to talk, talking to learn...

Such great conversations happened in our classroom this week in every subject. What amazing teachers and listeners we all are!

Thank you for supporting your students as they head into their Math MCA this week... Having confidence and taking our time are our top strategies!

Mrs. Peters

Headphones needed THIS WEEK

Students MUST have working headphones for their Math MCA. Please check with your student and MAKE SURE his or her pair is working and at school with them each day.

Thank you, Mr. Tabor!

We were happy to welcome Evie's dad, Chris Tabor (with special guest little sister), this morning as our Mystery Reader! I Could Do That!: Esther Morris Gets Women the Vote is both a historical and motivational tale that we all enjoyed and learned from. What an awesome example of our mindsets, too... optimism, resilience, and persistence!!

Beginning next week, we have open slots for the rest of the year! If your 3rd grader has been working hard to persuade you, now is your chance!! You can find more information and a sign-up page here.

Focus on the Curriculum

  • Main Idea / Nonfiction

We will continue our work with nonfiction this week. Students worked hard this week on reading to prepare for conversations. We learned that talking about our reading can really help us GROW our ideas!

Due to MCA testing, there will be NO new suffix this week. However, students are welcome to continue their ELA learning at home using Raz-Kids and past Spelling City units.

  • Chapter 9: Measurement
We will continue our review of measurement, including elapsed time and counting change. Please help reinforce the skills of telling time and counting change in your everyday lives at home, too!

Due to MCA testing, there will be NO Math homework this week. However, students are welcome to continue their Math learning at home using IXL, MobyMax, or www.multiplication.com.
