Heritage Week 2018
What a phenomenal week we had at the Nest during our second annual Heritage Week celebration. We had some great presentations throughout the week and our guests were most complimentary of our students. The students asked thoughtful, reflective questions and were very welcoming of our guests.
Our final assemblies with Mike Smith were undoubtedly the best we've had yet. Masses of students flocked around Mike at the end of each assembly. Mike was also very impressed by the students of LHS. We hope to be able to keep this idea of legacy and being a part of something bigger than yourself continuing throughout the year.
An undertaking as big as Heritage Week could not be accomplished without the work of many people. Kudos and thanks to the Heritage Week committee--Katie Bennett, Kelli Bradshaw, Melissa Calaman, Kasi Daniel, Cindy Enroughty, Tanya Espinoza, Woody Gehlert, Danielle Gish, Kay Gramling, Kathy Holbert, Shaylee Laton, Connie Martinez, Susan Muehlig, Melissa Porter, Kelly Singer, and Dave Siock.
The video below is a condensed version of Mike's presentation so that you can see a snippet of what your students experienced.

Calendar Shift
Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) will use February 18 (Presidents’ Day) to make up instructional time lost during Hurricane Michael. Given the length of time out of school thus far, the division will also extend the first semester from Monday, January 28 to Thursday, January 31. Consequently, the division’s previously scheduled staff day/virtual learning day will now be Friday, February 1 and the second semester will begin Monday, February 4.
Report cards for the second nine weeks/first semester will be sent home Monday, February 11.
The 2018-2019 school calendar has been updated to include the makeup day and semester changes. The updated calendar is available on www.vbschools.com. Updated 2018-19 Calendar
