Dancing in September!
One of my favorite songs is Dancing in September by Earth, Wind, and Fire because it is full of positivity, love, and awesome music. The chords...the horns...everything about this song is pure musical genius. I was in band for a large portion of my k-12 education so my brain will forever be trained to listen to what is actually happening with the music; such is the benefit of music education.
When I was a high school administrator, I loved to hear our marching band perform this song at half time during Friday night football because it spread joy all throughout the stadium. This is the type of messaging we need right now given everything that is happening around us. Please help me usher in the month of September with this amazing song. If you listen to it, I hope it brings you as much joy as it brings me!

From the Library
Dear Hixson Parents,
I’m happy to announce that there is a new digital reading app available now for you and your students. Sora is a wonderful platform that uses OverDrive and is free to all WGSD students. It can be downloaded and used on phones, tablets, chromebooks, desktops, and laptops. It’s also available through Apple or Android devices.
After the app is downloaded (Sora, by OverDrive) or the website is launched through Clever www.clever.com students do not have to worry about login information while using Sora. Search for and select Webster Groves School District as your child’s school.
Middle school selected books, informational books, audiobooks, and graphic novels have all been selected to engage your student and encourage reading at the level where they are most comfortable. You can also easily add in your local public library to expand the options for all students.
