Weekly News, Updates, and Opportunities from SRMS
A Message from Dr. Ortiz, Principal of Sandy Run
Good evening, families. This was a very exciting week filled with lots of activity! Math PSSA testing went very smoothly for our students in grades 6-8. Next week, our 8th grade students will take the Science PSSA exams. While there are many different metrics we use to gauge student progress, these state-mandated exams help to serve as another data point to drive our work as a district and we appreciate students putting their best effort forward. While spring sports have battled the rainy weather lately, the Cardinals have still been able to show a great deal of promise in track, tennis, softball, baseball, & lacrosse. A highlight each spring is the annual UDSD Allied Art Show where students' art work from across the district is on display (see below). It was great seeing so many families come out and appreciate the many great talents our students possess. I hope that you and your families have a great weekend (now that the rain seems to be giving us a break!) and take care.
Sincerely,
Dan Ortiz
UDSD Allied Art Show
We thank all of our art teachers and students for their hard work and beautiful artwork that was on display Wednesday night at UDHS. SRMS students' work - an example posted here - is always a highlight of the year. Mr. Shank and Mr. Lynn bring out the best in our students' artistic talents!
8th Grade Class Unity
The 8th grade class was able to come together and take a great group photo together on Wednesday. The Class of 2027 is an exceptional group of students, artists, performers, athletes, leaders, and more! We cannot wait to see all of the great things they do in the future.
6th Grade Pen Pals with UDHS
The 6th grade ELA teachers partnered with English teachers at Upper Dublin High School over recent weeks in a pen pal activity. High School student-leaders corresponded with sixth graders, built relationships, and today met them in person to offer some words of wisdom and share in a lot of fun.
