ACTION NEEDED: Blue Ridge Field Trip Information!

As the second payment of the field trip comes closer, we are trying to make sure that all students who are attending the field trip have the necessary paperwork filled out for this fun-filled day. Please be sure to review the paperwork and return it soon. You MUST return all colored forms ASAP (yellow, blue, and green). Any forms turned in Monday get a special treat. They have also been linked below in case you are in need of an additional copy of the forms that must be returned.


Please note that due to a scheduling conflict that class dates have switched!

CogAT & ITBS Score Reports

The county has now provided official score reports for CogAT and ITBS. These will be sent home in Friday Folders this Friday.

Headquarter Headlines

8th Annual SciTECH Event is February 4th!

One of our biggest events is right around the corner! Sci-Tech Night is Thursday, Feb. 4, 6-8 p.m. at the school. This FREE event is open to all PMES students and their parents and is designed to show kids how cool science and technology can be.


The event begins with our Science Fair awards ceremony and then students attend three breakout sessions. These sessions are led by science and technology experts in our area who show kids how these important areas are applied in various careers. Experts teach kids about the brain, robotics, animal science, ecology, electricity, astronomy, WiFi, chocolate and much more! See the attached flier for more event details.

Relay for Life Movie Night

Mark your calendars for February 12 Movie Night 5:30 – 9:00!

Parents don’t miss the chance to have a Friday night to celebrate Valentine’s Day early with a relaxing dinner out while your child has fun watching a movie under the supervision of our wonderful PMES teachers. This event is sponsored by PMES Relay for Life. Students will have fun, receive pizza, and a drink all for only $15 per student. ($10 for each additional sibling). Please see the form attached below or on the PMES website. Forms/Payment due by February 8th!

Upcoming and Continuing Units of Study

GA Milestones Study Guides

Georgia Milestones study guide are now available from the GA DOE. They have been posted online through the link below. This is a great resource in preparing students for the upcoming test in April.

Reading

Narrative Non-Fiction tests are coming home in folders today. And now, we have begun a journey into Historical Fiction through the Great Depression.

Writing

We continue to review skills in Persuasive writing and the craft of writing to look smart and sound smart (like an expert).

Word Study

We have introduced the new words for Sort #27 (micro-, hyper-, super-, mega-). The test will be Wed, Feb. 3rd.

Math

We will be continuing our geometry unit. This unit will include learning the attributes of various 2D shapes as well as being able to classify them. The test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, February 5th. The Quarter 3 Math Resource Round-Up has been linked below. Be sure to check this document frequently as it is updated as we move through the Quarter 3 units.

Science/Social Studies

We will be continuing our social studies unit covering the Roaring 20s, The Great Depression, and the New Deal. Some classes are testing at the end of next week and others are testing at the beginning of the next. Study guides will be sent home early next week.
