DON'T FORGET THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE - ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!
Dear teacher friends,
Hang in there! I know you are tired. I know students are tired and testing every boundary you've had in place since the first day of school. I also know that you have done so much amazing work this school year. Focus on the positives. They are there. Remember the girls who fought constantly at the beginning of the year and now interact peacefully? YOU had a hand in that. Remember the child who struggled to find a friend but now has a group with which to gather at lunch and recess? YOU had a hand in that. Remember the child who was below expected level in reading in August and now devours entire series of books? YOU had a hand in that. Remember the child who didn't read in August and asked for time to read today? YOU had a hand in that. YOU are making a difference and will continue to do so in the coming weeks. Hang in there!
WE GOT THIS!!!
OUR LEARNING IS GROWING
Our Learning is Growing!!
IReady Diagnostic window opens May 1st. Please check the PT calendar for your scheduled time for the Chrome Carts. Our incentive will be to earn a leaf to add to our “Tree of Learning”. If they make any growth from the February diagnostic, they will get a leaf to write their name on and add to our tree located in the front entryway. If they have reached their “Stretch Growth” for the year, they can also earn a butterfly to add to the tree. Let me know if you have any questions! The building iReady incentive will be a movie day in your classroom on May 20th. If our building has 70% of our students on or above grade level after the May reading diagnostic, we will celebrate!!
End of the year testing for Infinite Campus should begin any time after May 1st. To find what assessments need to be given and entered, go to our staff links page and click on the Literacy link. Then click on JCPS Documents at the top, scroll down to JCPS Literacy Assessments & Infinite Campus Data Entry to see what assessments need to be given at the EOY. This will also give you directions on how to enter them into IC. Make sure you are using the correct Correlation Chart! If you need help entering this data into Infinite Campus, please let me know.
Our Literacy Team Meeting will be on May 1st. Please see Agenda from Tara and Kathy for items to bring. There is no April text level to enter into Infinite Campus, just Running Record/4th Quarter and EOY Next Step level. Please wait to enter your running record/4th quarter data until later in May. It is an expectation to continue meeting with groups for as long as possible.
Don’t forget to bring all of your old benchmarking kits (DRA, BRI, etc.) to the Commons. Also, if you want to get rid of all your old Lucy Calkins units of study, there is a pile for those in the Commons as well. You may want to keep the newest version as a resource just in case Schoolwide does not provide everything you need to teach our curriculum. The reason this may occur is that Schoolwide was designed around Common Core and we are teaching Missouri Learning Standards. Any questions?
One final thing, please bring your RTI binders and any folders that you might have to me as soon as you can. The kids seemed disappointed when they found out that RTI was over. I personally feel that it was a success!! We have seen improvements in iReady scores due to RTI and your awesome teaching! If you have any suggestions for next year, please let me know. I will send out a Google Form for more feedback.
