The Manning Weekly Update
April 29th, 2022
As we get closer to the end of the year, and as spring sets in, I wanted let you know that we are seeing some behavior that violates our code of conduct and our HEART expectations.
Starting Monday, May 2nd, we will be running our consequences differently for inappropriate behavior and students not adhering to our HEART expectations. The following consequences will apply for the final three weeks of school:
1st infraction- Wednesday after school detention, 3:30-4:30 p.m., phone call home
2nd infraction- Loss of year end celebration event. This will include The Manning Social for 6th/7th grade students and the 8th grade picnic for 8th grade students.
Also, we just met as a staff and we've decided that since the 8th grade's year end celebration is the 8th grade picnic on the morning of Wednesday, May 25th, The Manning Social will be for 6th and 7th grade students ONLY and that will also occur on the morning of Wednesday, May 25th. This will create a special day for all grade levels. Monday, May 23rd and Tuesday, May 24th will be normal school days.
Please note that we've changed The Manning Social date from the afternoon of Tuesday, May 24th to the morning of Wednesday, May 25th.
Also, just a reminder that on Wednesday, May 25th, all 6th and 7th graders have an early release at Noon.

Information on Honors Courses
Dear Manning Families,
Exciting news for all our students/families here at Manning, that will continue to align with our Vision of Rigorous academic, High behavioral expectations for students, Strong partnerships with families and community. Our Leadership team and conversations with our academic departments led us to designate all core content classes at the honors level for next year. We looked at what we were teaching in our Honors vs General education classes and realized as a team that the instruction and standards in all classes aligned with the Honors level coursework. This not only aligns with our Vision of rigorous academics, but it will also improve instructional practices for the grade-level teachers to plan and align strong rigorous lesson plans and content for our students' academic growth.
Rigor does not mean more work. Rigor means we are encouraging students to think critically, creatively, and more flexibly. Along with classrooms that are stimulating, engaging, and supportive.
Math will still be placed upon your student's current level of foundational skills and knowledge.
There will be additional intervention classes in ELA and Math for those who may need some additional academic support.
