A Message From The Principal

Dear Henry Families,

We finally made it to the last week prior to spring break. We are sure everyone is excited to take a break and relax after these last few weeks and months. The safety committee had their first meeting this week and they will meet frequently to help us address any concerns to ensure the district routines and protocols are being implemented as policy dictates.

This past Friday was originally the last day for the opt-in window for students to return to school on Monday, April 19 — the first day of the 4th-quarter. CPS has extended it to Tuesday, March 23rd. As soon as we have final figures, we will work on the schedules for the 4th quarter.

Please continue to make sure to wear your mask on the school grounds properly at all times, maintain social distance and clean/wash your hands frequently. We can’t guarantee that the school will remain free of covid cases but we can minimize exposure by following protocols.

Remember to complete the screener for your child when they come to school.

Spring Break will begin on Saturday March 26th through Sunday April 4th. Students will return to school on Monday, April 5, 2021.

Have a wonderful week and a restful spring break!

Spring Break and Travel Order

Spring Break: Saturday March 27, 2021 - Sunday April 4, 2021

Travel Reminder --UPDATED --

We want to remind families who are planning to return in-person of CPS' policy on travel. If you travel internationally or to a state with widespread COVID transmission as indicated in the Chicago Emergency Travel Order (which has been revised with states such as Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan no longer requiring a quarantine) you are required to quarantine for 10 days or the parent needs to provide a negative COVID test within 72 hours of returning. We appreciate every family's commitment to these guidelines to keep our learning community safe.

Hello Everyone,

This past week was March Madness. All homerooms chose a college or university to learn more about and researched information about the school like the school’s colors, where the school was located, how many students attend the school, and how to pay for college. Be sure to ask your student which college they researched and start the discussion about the importance of higher education. You can also can virtual college tours with your student at: youvisit.com

It’s never too early to start thinking about paying for college! If you have any questions about how you can start saving money now or names of scholarships you can apply to, please reach out to me.

Career Day is coming to Henry on April 20th! We would love to have our parents participate in this amazing event and share about their careers. Career Day will be virtual and even if you can only commit to an hour, that’s fine! If you’re interested in participating, please email me at mgarfinkel@cps.edu.

As a reminder, I want to make sure this information is meeting your needs, so please complete this survey as soon as you can:
