Welcome to our Open Kitchen!
For the first time in the School’s 34 year history we are offering spring and summer cooking classes and learning experiences devoted to the dedicated home cook.
All classes are held at the SCS Kitchens (136 Ontario Street, Stratford).
Trade Secrets
Intensive workshops focused on a cooking technique, dish or product. Subjects include Wine, Pastry, Butchery and more.
Get Cooking!
Intensive workshops focused on themed recipes. Subjects include Bistro, Vegetarian, and International Cuisine.
Boot Camps
A multi-day course focused on skill and knowledge development. Subject areas include Fermentation, Cookery, Pastry, Bread and Wine.
Team Building & Wellness
Social and educational hands on cooking events for groups of 15 to 30 allow guests to cook alongside friends and colleagues or break into teams and compete.

Trade Secrets | Taste Wine Like a Pro!
Sommelier Bob Latham continues his wine tasting series with this entertaining workshop dedicated to guiding wine lovers through the theory and intricacies of how to best pair food with wine. Sample up to ten different wines from around the world during this three hour tasting! Perfect for the beginner to intermediate wine enthusiast.
Participants are required to be 19 years of age or older.
Cheese and charcuterie boards are provided during class.

Trade Secrets | The Best in Our Own Backyard: The Wines of Ontario & British Columbia
The quality of Canadian wine is making the world sit up and take notice! This harvest season, celebrate Canada and all our country’s unique regions have to offer by exploring the exceptional flavours and characteristics of wines produced right in our own backyard!
Sommelier Bob Latham will take you on a tasting tour of the best Canadian wines grown and produced in British Columbia and Ontario. Learn what food to best pair with your new favourite Canadian wine during this delightful and informative two hour tasting. Oh Canada! Perfect for the beginner to intermediate wine enthusiast.

Knife SHARPENING For Beginners

Learn everything the home cook needs to know to keep kitchen knives SHARP at home!
Do you feel intimidated about kitchen knives? Do you love to cook but lack the knowledge to keep your knives sharp at home?
Take this fun and interactive class to learn the following:
- How to use a honing steel
- How to use a pull-through knife sharpener
- Proper knife storage and care
- Top knives to have in your collection
- How to pick the right knife for YOU

Learn basic pasta making techniques, including the preparing, rolling and cutting of fresh pasta. Students will learn critical steps to ensure the success of freshly made pasta, how to cook it, and judge proper doneness. Simple pasta sauces will also be discussed and prepared. Perfect for the beginner or intermediate home chef.

A follow up to Trade Secrets | Pasta, expand your knowledge of pasta making by exploring filling recipes and learning techniques used to make tortellini and ravioli. Students will learn critical steps to ensure the success of freshly made stuffed pasta, how to cook it, and judge proper doneness. Simple pasta sauces will also be discussed and prepared. Perfect for the beginner or intermediate home chef.

Knife SKILLS For Beginners
Presented by Bradshaws & Kitchen Detail
Learn everything the home cook needs to slice, chop and dice properly and safely at home!
PLEASE NOTE - The prerequisite for this class is Knife SHARPENING For Beginners
Do you love to cook but lack the confidence to work with a proper 8" Chef Knife?
Do you wish you were more skilled at using kitchen knives to achieve better cooking results?
Take this fun and interactive class to:
- Learn Classic cutting techniques (dice, chop, chiffonade etc...) to elevate your prep game.
- Try out a fantastic assortment of both German and Japanese Knives from Zwilling J.A. Henckels so you can see for yourself why various knives are suited to different tasks!
- Learn how to use a mandoline, spiralizer, Microplane and channel knife.
You will leave this class feeling empowered and ready to slice, dice and chop your way to a fantastic meal at home!

Long Table Dinner | September 10, 2017
The School's signature fundraising event returns this September!
On Sunday, September 10th, Stratford Chefs School will host an exceptional outdoor dining experience at an historic Stratford location. Guests will gather around one long beautifully appointed table to enjoy a four-course dinner of incredible local food and VQA wine.
Tickets are $125 per person. Each ticket will receive a $50 charitable tax receipt.
