HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 7 - 31 August
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Tuesday’s HRC meeting was really useful and worthwhile. The opportunity to buy in to the conversations about what is taking place at school, and why, is important. We welcome any parents and guardians who want to swing by. The next meeting is on Tuesday 23 October at 7.00pm in the staff room. Please come along!
Thursday's Kindy concert was HUGE! Bec Campbell believes that a record number of dads were there - check out the photo! It is not that many years ago that only a handful of dads were able to come along - how things have changed for the better!
Our Fathers Day Breakfast this morning was a BIG event! Thanks to the HRC and to everyone who was able to come along, and a big thank you to Mark Nolan who made all of the arrangements – it was worth every minute!
Also fun this morning was the assembly led by Sonia Thomas and her Two Dominic Gang. They were awesome! Congratulations to you all.
Our Art Show, again coordinated by our HRC, is well in train. Lovely art works, completed in class as part of the Art programme at Holy Rosary, are going to make this event a very special one. It will be held in two weeks time on Sunday afternoon, held before 5.30pm Mass, at 2-4 pm on September 16. See you there!
We have much to be thankful for, and the work of our parents and guardians is invaluable. We could not do what we do without your support and that of the HRC.

HOLY ROSARY COMMUNITY NEWS
Holy Rosary Community Meeting
The HRC met on Tuesday night – these meetings are open to everyone to attend! There is plenty of community activity planned for terms 3 and 4: Father’s Day breakfast, Art Expo and Musical Bingo. We have heaps of parents helping on sub-committees – many hands make light work and it’s manageable when people take on one specific job. It’s a lot of fun planning the fun – if you would like to get involved, just get in touch on holyrosaryhelpers@gmail.com
The aim of the HRC parent reps is to facilitate families getting involved with the school to improve the experience of our children through fundraising and skills; as well as to have some fun as a community! Our focus is on raising funds for the Maker Space.
At each meeting Mr D provides a Principal’s Report – have a read below!

FATHER’S DAY ROCKS AT HOLY ROSARY!
Wow – what a huge start to Father’s Day! Kindy concert; Pre-Primary ties (step aside Versace); Year 2 assembly spilling the beans on dads; and last but not least, the Father’s Day breakfast. Thanks to our awesome Holy Rosary community for putting on the breakfast – cooks, servers, helpers - and to our teachers for planning lots of special events and surprises. Thanks to all the dads for joining in the fun, and also to the mums who sometimes step in for dad. Have a wonderful Father’s Day!

LIBRARY NEWS
It’s been a great week in the Library – it is full of amazing art and magical costumes donated by our children after the Book Week Parade. You are all so very clever! The Library Monitors did an awesome job last week and we celebrated with a thank you party. Our Senior Chess Comp is down to the Semi Finals and it never ceases to amaze me how skilled our HR children are. We read a book in our sessions called “If I Was Prime Minister” which got us thinking about what we would and could do if we had this job. 4D hold the title of Champion Borrowers as every class member remembered their library bag! Well done 4D!! Happy Reading!

UFO CRAFT GROUP
On Wednesday 22nd Aug eleven of us gathered again to knit, crochet and chat. We have now handed on four rugs to St Vincent de Paul and Fred Symons tells us two have already found homes.
If still you haven’t cleaned out your excess wool, the basket in the church is still there awaiting donations. We have grown to about 20 knitters, some at home. If you are knitting for us at home you can deliver squares to the blue basket in the church entrance and I will collect them for the group to assemble. If you can’t knit or crochet we will teach you.
Next meeting Wednesday 12th Sept in the Parish Community Centre at 9.30am to 12.00 noon.
