Units of Study & Thematic Curriculum
How can I use information from different sources to gain new knowledge?
How can I learn more by noticing all parts of the text?
How can I use multiple sources on the same topic to become an expert?
- How can I share my new understandings?
We will be learning how to discuss our stories with partners, share our new findings, and the differences between fiction and non-fiction texts. We are continuing to build our stamina as partner readers. Reader's are still practicing their skills of being a helpful, reading partner!
Everyday Mathematics: We are almost finished wrapping up Section 5. We have practicing all kinds of measuring, number stories, and working with tally marks. In Section 6 we will do more with measuring, extending patterns, addition & subtraction stories, and new skip counting. Students continue to work hard during station tubs as they work through content designed specifically for their math needs. Check out some pictures in our gallery to see what we are up to during these stations!
4th Grade Technology Buddies: This month we are working with simple coding! Students are pairing up with their 4th grade buddies to learn how to code using iPad apps. Ask your student about playing "The Foos" in Technology special or with their 4th grade buddy!
5th Grade Reading Buddies: This month our reading buddies helped prepare you a special, Valentine's day surprise. They helped us write a message to you! We also showed them all about partner reading. We love spending time reading to our buddies.
