Family Newsletter

Hello everyone-

Woooowhoooo!!!! What a fun week we had! We had 77 students sign up for choir and this began on Wednesday, we got to celebrate Dr. Wilson, Mrs. Davis, and all of our teacher assistants and paraprofessionals this week, we had kindergarten walk to the magic house (yay, rain brigade in the morning and sunny walk back), and we had our 4th graders go to the fishing trip.

Thank you to all of our parents for coming into the front office so that we could check your id and then quickly send you along. I recognize that these safety precautions take a few extra minutes, but it ensures our students' safety through verification that all the adults attending are safe to be with students (our system checks to make sure that they are not on the sex offender list or have a warrant out for their arrest). Our children's safety is always our top priority and the process goes quickly. We are so glad to welcome you back into the building and we appreciate your participation in our field trips. The kids and teachers love having you join us to share in the fun!

3rd-5th grade parents, please remember to send headphones to school with your child to practice the MAP test. Our 4th and 5th graders will be testing April 18th -22nd, and 3rd grade is April 25th-29th. Please remember to help your child get a good nights sleep that week, send in extra snacks, and we would love for you to send a note of encouragement for your student. Your little messages go a long way to motivate our kiddos to do their best and don't stress!

Special thanks this week to PTO Staff Appreciation Committee and all the parents who made donations to celebrate our staff members. We appreciate your generosity and our staff loved to be recognized for their hard work and dedication.

Don't forget this week is a short week- kids are only here on Monday-Wednesday and are off on Thursday and Friday. Enjoy the extended weekend!

Please check out the Kirkwood Special School District Newsletter April 2022 Edition.

Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.

Take Care-

Stuck on Literacy - Robinson Roadrunners Reading Challenge

The kids are begging to tape me to the wall still and so I am going to be challenging them to read 2 books at home from now until the end of the year. If we reach our Robinson Roadrunners Reading Challenge of reading 1,000 books at home before May 16th, we will let the kids tape me to the exterior wall of the gym for Field Day on the 20th. A paper for parents to complete will be sent home in the backpack on Monday. Students just turn the sheets into the teacher on May 16th- we will count however many books each child reads toward the goal, so one student reads extra it may cover those who did not return any reading. Good luck Roadrunners- read away!

Repeat of Field Trip Info from Email

I am so excited about the many fun trips coming up that our students are going to get to experience, and I am writing because I have received many questions regarding upcoming field trips. If you are attending a field trip with your child's classroom and are not going to be chaperoning students out of view of the teacher, you do not need the security background check.

For those parents who are chaperoning students outside of the view of the teacher, (for example: if you are at the zoo, and want to take a group of students to see the bears, and the teacher is viewing the penguins) you must complete a volunteer application. You may complete the application and email it to, as a reminder you can always drop the application off at the school in which your children attend. Finally, when needed, the application can be dropped off at the main entrance at the new Turner location.

Kirkwood School District-1099 Milwaukee Street-Kirkwood, MO 63122

In regards to taking your student with you from a field trip, you must return to Robinson to sign your child out. We do this for the protection of the children in our care. Teachers do not have access to legal documentation of who can/cannot take a child, they do not have Infinite Campus when off campus, and they cannot check your identification. They need signed out in Infinite Campus for attendance purposes and so that Adventure Club and staff know that they have been released to an approved adult. I realize that this may be an inconvenience and I appreciate your understanding that it is for the safety of our students.

Robinson PTO Board Needs Volunteers for 22-23 School Year

The Robinson PTO is looking for parents and guardians to join the PTO board for the upcoming school year! Worried that you won't have enough time? Or maybe that it's not the right fit? Well, have no fear! We are a fun bunch of parents who too just want to help our school community.

All open board positions are "elect" positions which means you will work alongside the current board member for a year before transitioning into the role. We recognize many of us are stretched thin in life and couldn't imagine carving out any extra time. But this type of community service really is rewarding especially when you see the joy on our students' and teachers' faces.

If we have a strong, diverse team we can strike a balance with time commitment and will be more successful at building a Robinson community that is connected, engaging and enriched!

All are welcome! Please contact us as if you would like to hear more or are interested in joining our Board.
