Assistant Director's Words of Inspiration
Spring has arrived and it is the season that’s typically symbolical for rebirth, growth and hope. When farmers plant crops they expect that the old is gone and there is a birth of new crops that will grow. Likewise, it is our expectations that the old ways of doing things that didn’t work at VPPMS are gone and there is a rebirth of ideas and practices that will hopefully move us forward in the process of transforming our school. This is a time of new beginnings-a season to make profound gains instructionally and behaviorally. We have the opportunity to create the school that we desire to see.
Over spring break, I encourage you to engage in deep self-reflection about your instructional practices, relationships with your students and colleagues. Come up with ideas and suggestions about how we can make our school better. Everyone has something to contribute. You each are unique and have talents that can benefit our students and school community. Learning to be the ‘solution to the problem’ shows growth. As a team, we can be more proactive than reactive. We have the power to change things that are not working and to start all over again with new invigorating instructional practices that get desired results.
Our students are counting on us to get them where they need to be academically. We are capable of so much, if we just look within and make the necessary changes. I am growing so much in my position and I know many of you are growing also. It is a wonderful experience to be the catalyst for great transformation. There is a leader inside all of you. It is up to you to bring the leader forth. At VPPMS, you are encouraged to dream big and be creative. As we transform our culture, we transform lives.
