Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
March 6-March 10
Hello Hamilton Families! I hope everyone stayed warm and safe during this last snow storm. It sure was a wild storm with that huge volume of snow, thunder snow and lightning, it was pretty amazing! I hope you all have power and didn’t get stuck again without power.
This time of year we often have unpredictable weather that can cause additional hardship on families. If you are in need of support please reach out to our Family Resource center as they have a number of resources to provide help. We also always have our food pantry open to any of our Hamilton families. You can pick up food on Mondays and Fridays from 9-11 or we can send smaller amounts home with your child. Call the office or message me on Dojo with questions. Wayne-Westland Community Schools has a Family Resource Center (FRC), which provides services to any student/family enrolled in our District, free of cost. Some of the services they provide are: basic need assistance, access to over 700 local resources, Laundry Assistance Program and material items for those unable to afford them (emergency toiletries, socks/underwear, hats/gloves/scarves, etc.) They are also able to supply school supplies and backpacks year round for any WWCS student. Please contact our Family Resource Center at: 734-419-2709 or FRC@wwcsd.net. Our FRC also has a Digital Request for Services Form, which can be used to request assistance by filling out a simple form. Please contact the Family Resource Center directly with any additional questions regarding their services

Reminder!! Students are to enter their grade level doors. Students who are dropped off at the front door will be asked to walk to their grade level door if there is time to get there before the 9:10 bell rings. Having students enter the grade level doors helps the adults to know where students are and helps to make sure they are getting to where they are supposed to be. When students enter the doors they are not assigned to, we often find them where they do not belong and the teacher does not know where to look for them when they are not where they are expected to be.
With the wet and muddy playgrounds this time of year please make sure to send an extra pair of shoes to school so students can wear clean shoes in the building. It is also a good idea to pack a change of clothes in your child’s backpack in case they slip in the mud or get wet.
I need your help and support!! I am concerned for the safety of your child and the other children getting in and out of cars during arrival and dismissal. Please remember that students may NOT cross the parking lot alone, all students must be crossed by an adult. You may not park in the bus lane and students may not cross the street between the buses. Students need to be escorted across the street or cross with the crossing guard. If you are getting out of your car please pull into a parking place. I understand this takes time and is a bit of an inconvenience, please remember it is to keep everyone safe. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Tuesday we kick off March is reading month with our Family Reading Night from 5-6:30. For those who have not attended our reading night in the past, we have several different activities for reading night that include read alouds by our teachers, games, snacks, flashlight reading, book giveaways, and more! All the activities are free. We do have the scholastic book fair going on as well, those books are for purchase and proceeds support all that our PTA does for our Hamilton community. I hope to see you at Reading Night!!
You can help reinforce literacy in the next generation and ensure students develop a lifelong love of reading. All it takes is 30 minutes of your time with a class at one of our participating schools. Call 734-419-2084 for more information or sign up here today: https://bit.ly/WWCelebrityReaders
