Grasshoppers
PreK at Giggle & Grow
Welcome to the Grasshoppers!
Dear Parent(s),
Welcome to the Grasshopper classroom. Your child will have fun, make new friends, and grow in a nurturing environment. Preschool is a critical time during the lifespan. Children at this age learn valuable self-help skills, how to socialize with other children, and build the foundation for later academic success.
Our prek program is designed to develop the whole child. Daily activities will focus on – social-emotional development, physical development, foundational reading and math skills, emergent writing skills, science exploration, and social study concepts. Morning group time will include calendar, book studies, and character development. Center time allows children to learn new skills and concepts through hands-on investigation. During center time, your child will navigate through different centers that focus on various academic areas – art, math, science, sensory, blocks & building, writing, reading, and dramatic play. During this time, we will also focus on language & literacy using small group and individualized instruction. We look forward to partnering with you to give your child the best prek experience. Below are helpful tips for our classroom.
· Every Thursday is Show & Share. Your child may bring one item from home. Please keep it small enough to fit into your child’s backpack.
· We ask you keep an extra pair of clothes (shirt, undies, pants, and shoes) in your child’s cubby or backpack.
· Stuffed animals are welcome for nap. Please keep toys at home.
· Send a water bottle daily.
· We welcome donations you may have around the house – children’s books, cardstock, envelops, stickers, building toys, plastic animals, puzzles, craft supplies, writing utensils, beads, toy cars.
· We are a peanut free school, please do not send food containing peanuts.
· Label ALL belongings – clothes, jackets, sheets/blankets, water bottles, etc. This will help us ensure your child brings his/her belongings home.
Communication is important to us. Feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns you have. We look forward to having your child in our class and building a strong partnership with you.
Warm Regards,
Ms. Deana & Ms. Elizabeth
Meet Our Grasshopper Teachers
Ms. Elizabeth
I am thrilled to be a new addition to Giggle and Grow. I have over ten years of experience teaching preschool and kindergarten. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies. I chose teaching because of the impact I will make on future generations. I enjoy getting to know each child and his or her family. In return, children make me laugh, motivate me to do my best, and touch my heart. It is amazing to be a part of a student’s intellectual, social and emotional growth.
I am married to an Iowa Hawkeye. We live in Tempe with our two dogs, Bella and Shandy, and our two cats, Maximus and Wrigley. I was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. I’m a huge Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Outside of teaching I write about country music and run social media for a country blog. I also enjoy traveling to the Pacific Northwest to spend time with our three nieces.
I look forward to meeting all the wonderful families at Giggle and Grow.
We look forward to a fun, successful year!
