What's the Weather?
Classes are just starting to look at weather in real time. Our station links in with other stations all over the US and gives us the capabilities to look at hurricanes in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and track the direction, category, and wind speed. The station also comes with WeatherSTEM labs, videos, and access to tons of information. Students can learn about data mining and meteorology. They will also be reviewing and interpreting graphs from our local weather. They can even look at and study various sensors regarding anemometer, barometer, dew point, hygrometer, light intensity, rain rate, temperature, uv radiation, wet bulb temperature, and wine vane.
You can visit our weather station readings online or install the Weather Bug app to your device (search Ethel Dwyer once in the app).
Red Ribbon Week Activities
Dr. Beachum's Assembly Students in 7th and 8th grade attended a very informative assembly to end Red Ribbon Week. He spoke to students about the effects of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, and drugs on their developing minds. There was also a teen guest speaker that shared her story of recovery. | Say Boo! Hundreds of students dressed up to "Say Boo to Drugs." We also had a GRITcoin licorice sale and the Halloween Dance all on the same day! | Dance Fun! Approximately 300 students enjoyed the Halloween Dance on Thursday afternoon. Our very own DJ Crazy Cat, Penelope Perkovich, did a wonderful job providing tunes! |
