Term 1 Week 3 - 10th February 2023

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Tena Koutou, Talofa, Namaste, Hello and Greetings

Welcome back to East Gore this year.

What a wonderful start we have had across our school. Although everyone is a bit happier the weather has cooled down a bit, after nearly melting in the first week!

All the classes have started their programmes getting to know each other and how they can all be learners in the classrooms. Some of the discussions across the school are very mature from what is a leader and what is a boss... there is quite the difference! To the junior school where they are developing whanau trees to make connections with each other. It is great to see everyone laughing with friends, and learning within all of our classes.

We have a lot of fun things planned this year! Since we haven't been out and about over the last few years, we are planning some trips to different locations around the Gore District. We will be asking for some parent helpers when we have finalised some of our plans... so watch this space for more information closer to the time. First up we have our school athletics day (Friday 24 February), and we look forward hosting you on this day while you cheer on our students while they run, jump and throw their way through the day.

Kia pai tō rā whakata (have a great weekend)

Introducing Our Staff for 2023

Ex Student Visits East Gore

On Tuesday we were lucky to have an ex student of East Gore return to have a look around the school. Lindsay Campbell graduated from East Gore School in 1966 and approximately 4 years later left to join the air force. Lindsay was given an Air Force book as a leavers gift and this sparked his interest and helped make his decision to join the Air Force. He is still in the Royal Australian Air Force with his career spanning 53 years... and he isn't retiring yet!

Lindsay shared stories with the students about the different airplanes he flew in, he shared a story that involved a submarine and his time in an F18 (like the ones in the Maverick movie).

Thanks Lindsay for returning to East Gore to share about your adventures.
