The Honor
Kappa Delta Pi | Seton Hall University | MARCH Vol. 3.7
Greetings KDP Family and Friends!
Happy March! Have you heard in like a lion, out like a lamb? How about these not-so-famous proverbs?
So many mists in March you see / So many frosts in May will be.
A Peck of March-Dust, and a Shower in May / Makes the Corn green, and the Fields gay.
March many-Weathers rain’d and blow’d / But March grass never did good.
When March starts, it’s still winter, and by the end of the month spring has begun. True, in many climates the weather hasn’t quite reached the lamb stage by the end of the month—it’s more like a surly cat, maybe, or one of those awful territorial honking geese. But we get the idea. We hope you and your students enjoy a wonderful start to the Spring whatever the weather may bring!

A Message from our Treasurer
Dear KDP members,
Our KDP Board would like to support active chapter members who are also members of SPLASH (School Psychology Leadership Association of Seton Hall) by volunteering for this year’s 5th Annual Nassan’s 5K Walk for Autism to be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Elmwood Park, East Orange, NJ from 8am – 1pm.
This is a perfect event for our chapter to come together, raise awareness about Autism and serve our local community by setting up, handing out T-shirts to the participants and cleaning up at the end. In addition to the walk, there will be activity tables for children (e.g. face painting) and resource tables for attendees/participants, so please feel free to share this event with friends and family.
If you would like to volunteer for this fabulous event, please respond to this email with your name and T-shirt size.
We will all meet at the park at 8-8:15am. Since we are volunteers, so we do not pay any fees. Volunteers for this event can earn up to 15 KDP Honor Stole Points for their service.
Any questions, please feel free to email me.
Thank you and have a great day!
Caroline

Praxis Workshop
Charter Day Congratulations!
Let's celebrate the accomplishments of those who support us and our college! A very special congratulations from all of us to Mayra Colon, one of the recipients of the distinguished McQuaid Medal. “This honor is awarded annually to long-serving employees for their commitment to the University’s mission and for providing outstanding service to the University by doing exceptional work in their own position, the larger University community.” Thank you Mayra, for your detailed event planning skills and care for students, faculty and staff.
Congratulations also to Servant Leader Scholars Luisa Rinaudo and Jackie Murdocca also being recognized on Charter Day!
We will celebrate Charter Day on Thursday, March 15 at 3:00 pm in Bethany Hall.
Around the world, March 14th (3/14) is recognized as the day to celebrate Pi, which, of course, is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The “earliest known” celebration of Pi Day was in 1988 when physicist Larry Shaw and staff of the San Francisco Exploratorium marched around a circular space and then ate fruit pies! Since then, Pi Day has become a classroom and cultural phenomenon. Whether you are looking for activities to conduct in the classroom, special Pi day gear, or a unique video to highlight the occasion, keep reading for a plethora of Pi Day fun here.
Interprofessional Education Experience at Seton Hall University
On Tuesday, March 27th, both practicum and internship students are invited to participate in the Interprofessional Education experience. We will participate in this endeavor. This is our second year participating. As future school psychologists we should be part of any disciplinary team that works with children/adolescents that have a DSM and/or medical diagnosis. We meet with other students in different programs (e.g., PT, OT, Nursing, Speech and Language, Psychology & Social Work, Teaching, etc…). The symposium will be held in the Student Center in the large meeting area from 5-8 pm. Dinner will be provided. The purpose of symposium is to bring awareness to all different health care services and to collaborate with each other on issues related to education, diagnosis, services available, advocacy, transitional services, and recommendations to the client and family.
The program will be about an ASD child who is interested in going out for a sport and the issues that present with a person that has specific challenges with the disorder in question. You will be split up into different groups and you will provide your expertise in developing the IEP to include accommodations and modifications to help this student achieve.
