LRMS: Week at a Glance
August 10-14, 2015
Sayings from Skinner
Good morning -- and here's an official WELCOME to 2015-16. We had a FABULOUS pre-planning week, and I hope everyone had a great weekend. I know many of you put in hours over the weekend to be READY for this week -- and it is so appreciated. As we launch into this school year, remember . . . We ARE Radloff!!!! Together, we will be READY to Bring IT each hour, each day, and each week. We are a TEAM -- and so, if there's anything you need, please just ask. Our goal is to help each and every student become a part of our team -- and reach his or her potential for greater READINESS for the challenges in the NOW and in the FUTURE. Please wear your "We are Radloff" bands -- and look for students who embody and showcase "The Radloff Way." As you see this, bring them "into the team" by giving them a "We are Radloff" band and showcasing why they are receiving it. We'd love for every student to have one of these within the first month of school--but they must earn it through their actions.
As we launch into Radloff Reads, please remember that our goal is to have every student find SUCCESS with this initiative -- we want to encourage reading at every turn. Also, with the introduction of "10 for 5" (or "15 for 5" for our 8th graders), it is imperative that we are a TEAM on this, and work together to encourage good actions and success from our students as we build this new practice.
Let's also help our students understand our culture by being firm, friendly, and consistent as we help them each come to understand (or review) and live out the 3 Rs of our Radloff Pledge. PBIS is not something we do -- it is who we are!
THANK YOU, in advance, for everything you will do to help move our students and our school forward and upward. Y'all are the best. Have a great week!!!
Sarah
News You Can Use
1) Kudos, Congratulations, and Other Matters of Good News:
(This is a space for YOU to send to Sarah all the good things that are happening at Radloff each week!! It is a way for us to celebration all of the Transformational and Innovative things that are going on! It is also a way to share great things happening -- professionally or personally! Make sure the matters get shared by Thursday, if you want it in the Week at a Glance for the next week!)
2) eClass Excitement!
(This is also a space for YOU to highlight what YOU are doing or what you have seen others doing with eClass --- again, let Sarah know about these by Thursday of the week prior to them being in the Week at a Glance!)
3) First Week Schedule and Scripts
Remember that you are to follow the pink sheet (given out on Friday, August 7), so that you cover everything you need to each day.
The path to the updated bell schedule for week one is as follows:
Shared Drive > Staff > Everybody > 2015-16 > Staff Information > Bell Schedules
As HR teachers collect materials, please sort your three items with parent signatures and make sure you receive all three (pg. 31, the SASI Data Verification form, and the Clinic Card). Please check to see that they are filled out. Send them home again, if they are not completed. If students do not return these, start calling home. We really need the updated/correct information.
Prior to submitting these to your GL clerks, check to see if any changes have been recorded on the SASI Data Verification form. If it says "no changes" with a parent signature, just toss it. If is lists changes, check to see if those changes are the same info. on the clinic card. If the information is the same, turn in those forms in an alphabetized stack to your GL clerk. If the information does NOT match, staple the SASI documentation form to the clinic card, and submit those stapled forms to the GL Clerks.
If you have questions, ask!
4) Testing Information
All details about Pre-testing will NOT be included here -- we are going to try some new "innovative" things . . look for details from Brian, Chris, and Tammy!
5) Radloff Reads
See the information from Amanda Sparks -- make sure each of your HR students understands the expectations, the due date, and has a book selected! Encourage ALL students to read, read, READ!!!
6) Lunchroom Procedures
As a pilot, each teacher who escorts students to the lunchroom each day will receive two "sleeves" of lunch trays and utensils. The hope is that this will build accountability and responsibility (and limit waste). If you need additional trays or utensils, please let Andrei know. After our initial two-three weeks of trying this pilot, we will seek out feedback on the process and determine whether or not we will continue with this new process. This will give us a chance to establish high expectations for our students -- to encourage them to look after the various components of our school environment. All feedback should be passed to your Faculty Senate members.
Staff -- please remember that there are NO CHARGES this year. Please pay in advance through a MealsPayPlus account or bring cash. Also, remember that adult meals are specifically sized. If you take extra, you will be charged accordingly.
7) Duty Posts and Supervision
Please make sure you are on your duty posts and fulfilling ALL supervisory duties. We want to be "all hands on deck" for the safety of our students and to make sure all of our areas have coverage.
One note -- there will be NO WEDNESDAY AM TUTORING THIS WEEK -- it will begin NEXT WEEK (on August 19).
8) Kids in Need
Many of you have already received an email about attending/visiting the Kids in Need site to pick up some free school supplies to pick up to use with your students (we are entitled to this "perk" because of our status as a Title 1 school). Now that we are fully hired, I will be updating that list -- so many of you who might have not already received that email should do so early next week (if not sooner)! If you still don't receive this (you must be a full-time teacher to receive the invite), please let me know!
