CAST STEM Principal's Weekly Update

September 18, 2021

Happy Fall, CAST STEM families,

The leaves are beginning to change and our students are settling into their scholarship and leadership. Our seniors embraced their leadership as the Senior Traditions Committee began their work to establish senior traditions for CAST STEM. This week, they focused on graduation to begin with the end in mind and it surely brought some happy tears for all of us. Your children are our children and we are so proud of them all. (Pictures below.)

Hispanic Heritage Month began this month and we want to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. There are many Hispanic STEM Champions who helped to shape CAST STEM HS. There are future community Champions who are learning and leading at CAST STEM.

September is also National Suicide Prevention Month. According to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, suicide is the second leading cause of death for children, adolescents, and young adults age 15-to-24-year-olds. Please reach out if you or a friend need help: National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8225 https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/

Families, please talk at home about your choice to learn and grow at CAST STEM. We expect our scholars to be leaders of themselves and others every day. We ask that you care for your school, other students, and learning spaces with pride. If you See Something, Say Something. Take pride in your school and in your concern for one another every day. You have built something special at CAST STEM and the campus is a monument to your hard work.

Have a great weekend!

In gratitude,

Ravae V. Shaeffer

Do you need a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) Form for your driver's permit?

VOE is a form that you submit to the DPS when you are applying for a learner's permit or license. It is signed by your school administrator to verify that you are enrolled in school, attending 90% of classes in the semester prior to your application, and that you have been awarded credit for each class you took in the semester prior to applying for your license. If you need to obtain this form, please download and complete the following form and drop it off at CAST STEM. Please be sure to drop it off 24 hours in advance of when you need it. Mrs. Shaeffer will verify your attendance and credits before signing the VOE.
