Newsletter Week 8 Term 3

Huirangi Primary School, Monday 13th September 2021

Kia Ora Koutou, Hello Everyone!

It has been wonderful to see most of our students back after lockdown! We are keeping teaching and learning as normal as possible for everyone, and things are going great!

Thank you for following our Level 2 Protocols. I know at times it isn't convenient, but the more diligent we are with following the rules, the sooner we might shift to Level 1!

Parents please refrain from coming onto the school grounds, unless an appointment has been made.

This weeks newsletter is a rundown of changes that have been made to our calendar to try and keep things we have had scheduled running as best as we can.

Ngā mihi nui,

Natalie Looney

Huirangi Home & School Fun Run Crazy Colour Day!

Fundraising for this has now closed and prize orders have opened! If your child has participated in the fundraising, prizes need to be selected by Monday 13th September...Today!

We are looking at holding our Colour Run on Wednesday 29th September. As we are still in Level 2, no parents will be permitted to watch. I do PROMISE we will take lots of photos for you to view after the event.

If your child wishes to wear white on the day (to enhance the colour!) please do so. We will not take responsibility for any colour that does not come out in the wash!

We are really excited to be holding this event and are hoping that we can have parents and family attend next year.

All basketball games, along with the presentation ceremony, have been cancelled for this season.

Huge thanks to the coach/managers for your support to date: please return the uniforms to school as soon as you are able.

Out of Zone Enrolments for 2022

HUIRANGI SCHOOL Out of Zone Enrolments for 2022

Under our Enrolment Scheme guidelines, the Board of Trustees has determined that 10 places are likely to be available for ‘out of zone’ students who will be starting school in 2022. Priority will be given to New Entrant students starting school. The exact number of places available will depend on the number of enrolments received from students who live within the school ‘home zone’.

Applications for enrolment for an ‘out of zone’ student is to be made by completing an enrolment form available from the school office. The deadline for receipt of this application is FRIDAY 24th SEPTEMBER 2021

Parents who live within the ‘home zone’ and intend enrolling their child in 2022 should also apply before this deadline to allow the school the opportunity to plan for the 2022 year.

If the number of ‘out of zone’ applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required, it will be held on Monday 27th September 2021. Parents will be informed of the outcome within three school days of the ballot being held.

Huirangi School

Please Note - as mentioned in past newsletters, if you live out of zone, and if you already have a child/children at this school, and you have a younger child starting school next year, you still have to make application [hand in a completed enrolment form] on or before the date advertised above. So, please be aware of this. Don't hesitate to call school to clarify this if need be.

Manukorihi Enrolments for 2022

Manukorihi Intermediate are currently requesting numbers of Huirangi Students who will be attending in 2022. Can you please either call or email the office to let us know only if your child will be attending a different intermediate school in 2022.

Huirangi Pets Day 2021 - Change of date

We have made the decision to change our Pets Day to Tuesday 26th October with judging of calves and lambs beginning at 10am. There will be no other pets this year, sorry. This change is of course due the uncertainty around Covid levels.

If, at that date, we are still under Covid level 2, there will be a requirement of one parent only per child, with no other family or friends allowed. If however, we are in Covid level 1 we will be able to have a larger crowd outside.

Entries for calves and lambs has now closed.

Classroom creative entries have also been cancelled for this year.

Lion King Production

We are proud to let you know that our production will go ahead, and adheres to the Ministry of Health Guidelines. This won't be a live event, but a professionally filmed production. We will be continuing rehearsals and class dance practices, in the hopes to schedule Thursday 4th November for filming.

Huirangi School Hoodies

Due to popular demand, we have re-launched the ability to order a school hoodie.

It is wonderful to see the 'sea of green' out in the playground! Yes, these hoodies are more expensive than your average, but they are great quality and will last a long time. It can also save on having to buy extra school clothes over the cooler months. To save on postage, arrange a click and collect!

Orders close on 30th September and hoodies will arrive by Christmas. Please click here to order:
