A Message From Principal Choquette 9/21/18
Good afternoon and happy last official day of summer! There isn't a better way to kick off the start of fall than to have a carnival! We hope you can all join us at the School Local Carnival at JFK Middle School on Sunday, September 23rd from 12-4. It's going to be a lot of fun and it's a great way to come out and support your public schools.
We will be holding our first lockdown drill on Thursday, September 27th. We practice drills in order to make sure everyone knows the procedures and how to stay safe if there ever were an emergency. It is important to talk to your children about the reasons why we practice drills, to be prepared in an emergency. The drills are not scary, when I make the announcement I actually say "this is a lockdown drill" three times. The police (local and state) come to support us during these drills. If you have any questions, please give me a call or stop in.
On Tuesday, September 25th we will also be practicing our bus evacuations. These will be done in the morning out in the bus loop. Again, these drills are important for students to practice in order to keep everyone safe in an emergency.
We have two family dinners left and both are next week. Thank you again to the PTO for hosting them and for the food. All of the dinners so far have been wonderful.
Some of you have asked about volunteering. If you are interested in volunteering in the school, please stop in the main office to fill out the necessary paperwork. We love having parents read to students, help out at lunch and recess, help in the gardens, or anything else. Also, if you plan on attending field trips with your children this year, please stop in and fill out the necessary paperwork for a CORI check.
Thank you. I hope you all have a wonderful fall weekend!
