Pearson Science
Pearson has provided a school supplied materials list for the materials kits (i.e. materials NOT contained in the kits) as well as lists for the materials included in each kit K-5. (This does not include the NGSS Kits nor the Refill Kits, but this is the bulk.) Please distribute these lists to your teachers and coaches. The first one will help immensely with planning. Most school supplied items can be found in the classroom (scissors, red crayon, etc).

GOVERNOR’S AWARDS FOR THE ARTS IN PA – Lancaster, PA – October 21-26

Creative Integration through the art of Mask Making
There will be some free workshops to enable the public to create masks or puppets and join in the parade. Lancaster is inviting all members and ages of the community to participate in the art of mask making.
- Mask making invites the creator to explore various aspects of his or her own personality. This process can be quite revealing as it will take participants out of their realm of words and inspire imagination and nonverbal action. Each participant will create larger than life, highly expressive, mixed media masks. No prior experience is necessary.
- Organizers are asking for community members to donate cardboard, toilet paper and paper towel rolls, plastic lids, newspaper and any other recyclable material that can be used in a creative way.
- The necessary supplies to finish and adorn the masks will be provided by LSJ Studios. Hot Glue Guns, Glue Sticks (for hot glue gun), Glue Sticks, Non-Toxic White School Glue, Acrylic Paints, Tempra Paints, Feathers, Glitter Glue, and Paint Brushes.
- Every participant will be invited to walk in the downtown Lancaster Parade with their created mask, celebrating arts in our city on Sunday, October 22.
- For more information, you can contact Loryn at (717) 381-5032 lsjmixedmedia@gmail.com OR Kayla Forgrave at kforgrave@cityoflancasterpa.com
The parade, on Sunday, October 22, will include marching bands, drill and dance teams and includes participation from many schools in the Lancaster area. Artist of the year, Barry Kornhauser and artist, Loryn Spangler-Jones, have led classes to create puppets and masks with kids, reflecting the community in which they live. Kids will march in the parade with their creations! Additional opportunities for the public to create puppets and join the parade are being organized. Parade route: Beginning at Clipper Magazine Stadium, heading south on Prince Street to King Street, east on King Street to Queen Street, north on Queen Street to Clay Street, west on Clay Street returning to Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Additional information about the events celebrating The Arts in Lancaster will be available as we approach October 21.
