District Construction Update
Week of June 12th
Progress Continues in Week 4
While demolition continued in many areas of the building, this last week saw several areas being put back together. The Large Gym is nearly completed, the first section of the roof has been completed, plumbers are making progress on the in floor plumbing for the new bathrooms and locker rooms, and new cabinets and paint have been completed in the library renovation project.
PROJECTS
Roof Replacement
The dry weather has been ideal for the roofing project, as the roofing contractors have completed installation of the new roof over the large gym. Removal of the old ballast (rocks) continued this past week on several different areas of the roof in preparation for new roof installation on the high roof over the Commons, Small Gym, and Tech Ed spaces.

Upper Wall EIFC
Demolition continued this week on the old stucco EIFC on the high walls of the building. Contractors are removing the stucco, and grinding down the adhesive on the walls, in preparation for the installation of a new moisture barrier, insulation, and eventually steel horizontal siding.
Locker Room Renovations
Most of the plumbing rough-ins have been completed in the new shower and bathroom areas, and preparations were made for the concrete floors to be poured. This next week will see great progress being made as most of the areas will have a new concrete floor poured.

Bathroom Additions
Demolition on the two new bathroom areas is largely completed, with plumbing rough-ins continuing, as well as pouring cement floors in those areas. We will hopefully begin seeing construction of block walls in those areas in the coming week.

New Flooring
Demolition continued on the old tile flooring around the building. Crews from Kraemer Bros. Construction have removed the tile flooring in the Commons, Commons bathrooms, hallway behind the large gym, maintenance hallway, art hallway, middle school hallway, cafeteria, and Commons area outside the Performance Center. The old tile floors will be replaced with a new epoxy resin floor with colored paint chips.

Library Renovations
Renovations on our district's LMC space continued this past week. The old circulation desk has been removed, as have most of the bookshelves and wall shelving. New cabinets have been installed. Local painter Bonnie Murphy was on site this past week painting the Library. Upcoming weeks will see the old carpet being removed and replaced with new carpet tiles, as well the installation of a new circulation desk, and new wall shelving and bookshelves.

Large Gym Floor
Resurfacing of the large gym floor is nearing completion. The crew from Stalker Sports Flooring is on hold until the roof project is completed over the large gym. They have one final coat of finish to put on the floor. We're excited for the finished project and for our teams to be able to play on the new floor this summer.
Access to Building
Much of our building is still accessible to staff, students, and the public. We ask any visitors to the building to park in the front (south) parking lot, and use the Middle/High School entrance to come into the building. Currently, the Commons, the hallway behind the large gym, all locker rooms, the maintenance hallway, and the middle school hallway are off limits to the public. Yellow caution tape identifies the areas that are closed off.
General Contractor
We're proud to partner with Kraemer Bros. Construction as the school district's General Contractor, managing the selection of subcontractors, timelines, and project completion. The district previously worked with Kraemer Bros. in the construction of the new school in 1990-91, and the building addition in 1996. We proudly support a successful business based out of southwest Wisconsin (Plain, WI).
Engineering, Architecture, and Design
The district has been working with FEH Design out of Dubuque, IA for the past year on the design, architecture, and engineering of our projects. Kevin and his team at FEH assisted the district through the pre-referendum process, facilitating several community meetings and a community survey. They stayed with us through the referendum, and continue to work with the district on any design or architectural changes as construction is happening.
Boots on the Ground
We are happy to support and partner with several Wisconsin subcontractors to complete work on our projects. Several of these subcontractors are from right here in southwest and western Wisconsin. Contractors and subcontractors on site this past week included:
Kraemer Bros. - Plain, WI
Great Lakes Power Vac - Pewaukee, WI
Higher Ground Roofing - Kewaskum, WI
Zimmerman Plumbing - Portage, WI
McCormick Electric - Gays Mills, WI
Winona Heating and Ventilation - La Crosse, WI
