Blustery, cold weather is upon us!
Yesterday I cancelled our exchange with Devon Intermediate due to weather conditions, we now look to find a date in Term 3 to play the same. And yesterday a number of students attended the Hawera High School production of "Footloose" and came back having enjoyed the experience.
Next week reports will be distributed on Monday and Parent Teacher Learning Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Forms have been sent home, please find a time that suits and return these as soon as possible to secure your slot.
Excitedly we prepare for our new furniture which will arrive over the holiday break. Please text your class teacher if you would like a table and chair.
On Wednesday we ask that you arrange to call into school from Noon - 4.30pm to pick up the same. School and organisations who have requested furniture will have theirs delivered on Friday 9th. Contact will be made prior.
Any surplus furniture will be left at the roadside for viewing on Dives Avenue during the day,
Koha donations towards our school camp would be much appreciated.
It is likely that students next Friday will have a "Big Day Out" to celebrate the end of a great term. We will keep you posted.
Keep wrapped up warm over the next few days as the polar blast moves through Taranaki.

On Monday the 21st June a group of our students had the opportunity to visit Fonterra Whareroa. As a part of our Term Two Inquiry Learning these students have been doing research projects around the History of Fonterra, the impact Fonterra has on their lives now and in the future
When we arrived at Fonterra we were greeted with a lady called Jessie (she is Mrs Surge’s sister). We walked into the reception and there was a big fat fake cow statue inside. Before we went any further we had to get our temperatures taken and we were also given name tags so everyone knew we were visitors.
Next we were escorted to this big flash meeting room where we were introduced to our guest speakers and shown a presentation. Tara (our first speaker) explained when Fonterra, Whareroa was established and what the workers do on a daily basis. They also shared information about what kind of things Fonterra, Whareroa creates. While they were showing us the powerpoint we were allowed to ask any questions that would help us with our inquiry.
After the speakers answered all of our questions we had a delicious lunch. The lunch was amazing and consisted of chocolate covered donuts with a little bit of cinnamon, mini pizzas and even mini Anderson pies (they also had healthy options like grapes and water).
After Lunch we were able to see a tanker and talk to one of the drivers.
It was a great experience and we all learnt a lot about Fonterra to help us with our research projects. - by Tiama Hill Rm 11
Inter-class Competition
All classes were put into pool games then quarter-final and then semi-finals.
The semi-finals teams were, Room 5 vs Room 6 and Room 12 vs Room 2. This time all Ohawe Whanau classes made the semis.
Room 2 and Room 5 won their game and played off in the finals. Room 5 came out on top winning 9 points to 5.
Room 5 will now represent our school along with a boys team, girls team, and a mixed team in the Taranaki Intermediate Rippa Rugby tournament held in Inglewood next Tuesday 6th July.
