Hello Holland Elementary Families,
I'm sure that parents would agree that it was so great to have a full week of school. We had two significant highlights from the week. Our Willy Wonka Jr. performances were simply amazing! Over 50 students from fifth and sixth grade put on three fantastic shows, as they shared their talents to delighted crowds of students and family members. Special thanks to all of the adults who supported the students and allowed them to shine!
We also had our younger students participating in the CR Book Bowl on Tuesday evening at Council Rock South. Approximately 900 elementary students in grades second, third, and fourth across the district participated in this Celebration of Reading. HES was well-represented at this event, and the pictures below show how much fun was had on this evening.

PSSA Testing
The administration of PSSA testing for ELA (English Language Arts), Math, and Science is coming up, and the schedule for these assessments is below:
- English Language Arts (ELA) – April 10-12 – Grades 3-6 (3 sections)
- Math – April 17-18 – Grades 3-6 (2 sections)
- Science – April 24-25 – Grade 4 (2 Sections)
- PSSA Make-Up Sessions – April 30-May 4
Below you will find links to letters that outline specific dates and general information for our assessments at Holland Elementary School. As with any type of assessment, the staff and I ask for your ongoing support of the children. Along with parents, the teachers have been preparing the children for PSSA testing with every lesson and activity that has been facilitated since the beginning of the school year. The staff and I will continue to maintain an appropriate test-taking environment in which we will modified schedules, and we will provide opportunities for the children to get their blood flowing with some light physical activity before each test. We ask that parents support the children by having them get a good night’s rest, eat breakfast, and come to school in comfortable clothing.
In addition, although it is not always possible, it is best to avoid having children take make-up tests. Therefore, it is helpful to schedule necessary appointments outside the testing times and have your child present at school each day on time. If any student arrives to school after the 9:30 a.m. test start time, students will need to make up the missed assessment on another day. We know that the children will be successful when they give their best effort, and the staff and I appreciate your support.
