Mrs. Green's Class Newsletter
Room 203
HI PARENTS,
Thank you for signing up for parent/teacher conferences! I look forward to meeting with each of you. It would be helpful for me if you could please fill out the survey above. If you have anything specific you would like to discuss at conferences, this would be a great place to let me know!
Also, if your child is participating in the "Read To Succeed" program, the forms are due by Friday, February 5th. Feel free to turn them in earlier if you are finished!
Ms. Mowery joined us again this week to talk about effective communication. She taught the students the acronym ABC: Always Be Clarifying. Ask your child about he activity he/she did to practice this skill.
Thanks,
Mrs. Green and Ms. Ruiz
Pizza Day
MATH
After our test on Tuesday, we will continue with decimals in Chapter 8b.
Reader's Workshop
It is getting close to the time to vote for a favorite Rebecca Caudill nominee. The voting will take place in school during the month of February. The students are encouraged to submit a vote after reading at least three of the nominees. (See list below) If you are looking for a new book to read, these all come highly recommended!
Social Studies/ Writing
This week we took our test on Westward Expansion. We are very close to reaching our destination on our journey west. The students have encountered many challenges and hardships on their journey. They have been recording their experiences in diary form on their google docs. Ask your child to show you his/her diary!
Science Lab
The fifth graders began their six week science lab rotation this week. They began to explore ideas involving gravity. This is the first concept we will learn in our Space unit. On Thursday, students got to play with Mr. Toop's toys and think about how the forces of gravity affect each one.
