Looking Back: December
Unplugged Lessons: Primary Grades
Following directions can be tricky. First grade students learned this when they attempted to follow directions on how to draw a crazy character. Missing steps ("add eyes" after "draw a body") caused confusion and we discussed how important it is to be clear and not miss any steps when creating an algorithm, especially one for a computer.
Grade 2 students were introduced to conditionals after finishing our Hello Ruby story. We practiced writing conditional statements for Ruby to choose which clothes to wear. Students were able to try their own conditional statements to get familiar with the "If/ Then" format of conditional coding.
Grades 3-5 - Online activites
Students put their problem solving skills to the test during Breakout EDU. These digital escape rooms are both challenging and fun. Students collaborated in partners or small groups to decipher the combinations of winter themed puzzles.
